I had guided legal hunting trips near Yellowstone for nineteen years. I knew the timber, the predators, and the rules that kept men alive in remote country.

Then Grant Halvorsen hired me to lead a hunting party into Black Fern Hollow.

He said it was an elk hunt.

It was not.

A dead wolf with its neck crushed backward. An elk torn apart before it could die. Traps, bait, hidden cameras, and a bridge deliberately cut behind us.

Then we saw the thing standing upright in the rain.

A massive Dogman that had survived bullets before… and understood exactly how to turn armed hunters against one another.

Deep in the flooded timber, with no safe route out and the creature picking us off one by one, I learned the truth:

We were never hunting it.

We were the bait.

A brutal wilderness horror story of betrayal, survival, revenge, and a predator intelligent enough to remember every human mistake.
