Tokyo Ghoul: Analyzing Kaneki's Death  : https://youtu.be/vxdObl3q6FA?si=cN_ldxbVwZz8f4Lx

You can't understand how happy it makes me feel to see Tokyo Ghoul still being relevant in 2023 😭

Kaneki's torture is infamous. Just as what Guts of Berserk went through in the eclipse. It's a wonder that both protagonists haven't lost their mind completely. Yet they turned out to be more vicious than anything.

Manga kaneki: Ill never forgive the aogiritree
anime kaneki: I'm going to join the aogiri tree

It is a warcrime how truly awful the anime portrayed this manga. It was sooooo good. Tokyo Ghoul deserves the FMAB treatment unbelievably bad.

I find it absolutely interesting that Jason and Kanaki reflect two different sides of childhood torture: Kaneki become extremely passive, to the point where he’s basically naive, while Jason turned to trauma reenactment, turning the harm he felt to others

This was really good but he never went on to explain just HOW LONG Kaneki was actually tortured for. He was held in that amphitheater for 10 days reliving the same hell countless times per day.

I suppose that this comic expresses something which not everyone can come to grips with easily in their own lives and that’s dealing with moral compromise. A lot of young adult media isn’t willing to really accept moral compromise as a part of life, when I say that in many ways it’s an inevitability. No one stays morally pure their whole lives. Some times you’re doomed to choose between helping someone and helping yourself and no matter what you choose you will feel bad. Learning to cope with the very rational decision of choosing yourself or not helping when you can’t afford to physically, emotionally, or financially is something you will have to learn to do.

mfs get scolded by a school  teacher for not doing homework and then start comparing themselves to Kaneki

I don’t think I will EVER forget when Jason put a centipede into Kaneki’s ear. Actually the craziest moment in anime in my opinion.

I remember running across this tik tok where this guy said guts torture during the eclipse was worse than Kanekis torture and I have to disagree not because it was more atrocious or anything it’s because guts was way stronger mentally Kaneki was a still a kid still trying to figure out his new life thrown into multiple days of constant torture and mental manipulation

People talk about how this needs a redo for anime adaptation but I could only accept it if they had the same person compose the music/adapt music from the first show. That’s what hooked me first.

Just did the math, if you subtract 7 from 1000 142 times you're left with 6, 143 times leaves you with -1

Kinda crazy that after so long, Kaneki and Tokyo Ghoul still aren’t forgotten, even to amass a huge amount of views with videos such as this. Goes to show how well written the manga really was(easily one of the top mangas). With so much traction I’ve seen lately, they should definitely consider doing the manga right.

9:16 Minor correction : When the centipede is put inside Kaneki's ear, the pain can't directly come from the insect eating his brain since the brain has no pain receptors. It must be from the damage it causes around.

The torture kaneki gave ayato was insane. i did not expect that.

its the fact it lasted for 10 whole days with his hair slowly turning grey, unfortunately the anime made it seem like it was on the same day of getting captured and the hair change being a super power smh

Honestly growing up with Tokyo Ghoul (it was my first read and intro to the Otaku culture), Kaneki's journey has given me so much. Outside of the cool fights, the amazing art designs, Kaneki's journey of self discovering his worth and loving himself, the ghoul part and the human part, is just beautiful. And then his conclusion at the end of TG Re how "The world is just is" from his vicious claim "The world is warped" in TG is to this day one of my favorite. Gosh I could just write paragraphs on this :)). Beautiful video and analysis!

I love in that panel of the kaneki's mother petting him in the next panel you see subtle speed lines on her hand.

counting down from 1000 in intervals of 7 is such a good symbolism for never reaching the end.
