Absolutely brilliant my Grandad was born on Main Street Tonyrefail in 1906 he later moved to Manchester and then my Dad was sent to Tonyrefail to live with his Grandparents for a few years during the second World War fascinating to see these amazing pictures thank you.
Great photos mate. My mother was from Thomastown (Pembroke St) and my grandfather was a miner at Coed-Ely. My great-grandfather worked there too. Lots of happy memories spending time there in the long summers of childhood days. Still remember sliding down the "mountain" (slight exaggeration) on cardboard, the Rocks and the sweet shop at the end of the street selling halfpenny sweets. Happy Days.
Thank you for this lovely presentation. One side of my family come from Thomastown and I spent part of my childhood there, with a year in Cwmlai School.
