For four years, Shawn Michaels and Triple H chased the one thing nobody could conquer... The Undertaker’s WrestleMania Streak.

What started as one match at WrestleMania 25 became one of WWE’s greatest accidental long term stories. Shawn Michaels lost himself trying to beat The Undertaker. Triple H believed he was stronger. He believed he could do what Shawn couldn't. But in the end, obsession consumed both of them.

This is the full story of how The Streak didn’t just survive DX... it destroyed them.

From WrestleMania 25 to WrestleMania 28, this is the story nobody talks about.

The streak felt bigger than mania at times.

Story of DX never being able to conquer the Deadmans streak is one of the most fascinating stories of wrestling which gets overlooked , but I also think that we missed on so many other bangers on the streak like with Kurt angle , Prime Cena etc.
The Streak shouldn't have broken honestly 💔

Its understated how badly Shawn wanted that mania 26 match, he and Chris Jericho had come off a blood fued years in the making not too long before that moment. So for him to gift Jericho the title, just to get to Taker, really shows how obsessed he was

A really small detail that people usually miss is the severity of his obsession at Elimination Chamber. The hidden detail that in all of his blind rage and obsession with Undertaker, he gives Chris Jericho, the man he JUST had a blood feud with a year prior, the Heavyweight Championship. It's the little stuff like that that makes me love this entire story arc

Seriously the buildup to Shawn's match vs taker at wm26 leading up to his retirement was one of the most beautiful storyline

Crazy to think he beat both members of DX multiple times at the grandest stage of them all..

I never realized that Undertaker never bet Shawn until Wrestlemania 25.

From WMs 23-29 Undertaker’s catalog was the stuff of legend and DX vs Undertaker from WM 25-28 was pure cinema.

that false finish at hell in a cell is one of my favorite wrestling moments

I think you ought to have mentioned that not only did Shawn cost Taker the WHC but he inadvertently gave Jericho the belt. Shawn and Jericho had an incredibly personal feud. Jericho was like his worst enemy. So it showed the extent of his obsession was so much that he'd let Jericho have the belt if it meant he could fight Taker.

At the time, when they kept kicking out, it felt like they were trading in their career longevity just to keep going. That was basically the story with Triple H. Its why it felt so impactful. Everything was on the line, including their futures.

8:00 wwe themselves acknowledged this is number 1 on their top 50 Wrestlemania’s of all time.

The fact that Vince basically branched one match into a 4 year story, creation at its finest. Even the subtle stuff, Shawn wearing the same outfit from wrestlemania 25 into the royal rumble

19:29 it seems that Triple H has a weakness against submissions. He lost quite a few matches in that way.

6:25 greatest match ever. the psychology and allowance of the spots to breathe is what we’re missing today on a consistent basis.

Shawn & Taker are my two-headed goat. I remember being so stoked when they finally got the chance to work together again in 2007. So that WM 25 match means so much to me. Legendary. WM 26 was bittersweet due to Shawn’s retirement but, a classic indeed.

For me the greatest WrestleMania match is taker vs hhh mania 28, the story, end of an era, hell in a cell, shawn Michaels everything top notch and good ol jr too
