“Witcher-like” is my favourite genre 😊

Legacy of Kain series needs a comeback.

Yah know, one thing a friend wished this game had was the "social predator" aspect of Vampires more.

The jumping between Vampire and Human, kinda reminds me of Resident Evil Requiem. How it's terrifying playing as Grace, but then it switches to Leon and you're badass.

Both RE9 and DawnWalker do an amazing job with the jumping between two perspectives and making you feel it.

5:43 is that Jean Grey from the insomniac's Wolverine? XD

Make a video on how Bathesda could learn a thing or two from Rebel Wolves and improve their upcoming games

I really loved Vampyr until I hit that wall you talked about, I couldn't get past a boss (I don't remember which one), so I though well I either give up on this game or I can paint the town red. Well I decided to only drink a hand full of people and only the really bad once, I was so mad when I got the bad ending because of that.

Legacy of Kain Blood Omen was worth mentioning too.

I blame Twilight for sullying the good name of the vampire

Odd. I experienced Dawnwalker's vampire/human balance quite differently. In the early and mid-game, the vampire is much more powerful, since all you need for progression is to drink blood, and not even human blood necessarily. Also, important powers like health regen are easily accessible as a vampire, but as a human a complete questline and a particular decision within it are required. A good swordmaster/witchcraft build requires a lot of manuals that take their time making it into your hands. Thus, I leaned into the vampire first, and into the human later, even in my day-focused run. BTW, a good day-focused build is easily a match (and more) for a good vampire build IMO, it just takes longer to get there. The conflict between the natures still exists beyond the narrative dimension, though, because some fights you need to do as a vampire, and some as a human. That, and being pressed for time, incentivizes you to explore both your natures.

Oh i DID a "No Kill" playthrough of Vampyr! Was it difficult? YES, YES IT WAS! And it was my first playthrough too! I got to Mary Reid and literally broke my controller and rage quit for several days! She was harder than a Dark Souls boss, but i came back to it and made it through! Final boss was literally a walk in the park!

I first played Vampyr a year ago and I loved the game, even with the crashing. But since then I've been craving a good Vampire rpg. Blood of the Dawnwalker has helped satisfy that craving. I haven't finished the game yet, but the lore and rp is so entertaining and fun.

Also, I actually preferred the vampire combat over the human. I heavily use shadow step and health regen via the bite in combat, and am frustrated how my mobility is lessoned and my health regen is much more difficult since I suck at blocking. (I'm better at dodging and attacking.

Excellent video! You could have also mentioned The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine. Even though Geralt is the main protagonist, there is a huge emphasis on vampires throughout that expansion. Great work!

It's been so difficult to find a great vampire game.  The last one was Bloodlines.

What an amazing analysis. Absolutely agree

To me this was as much of a history and folklore game as it was a vampire game. The arms and armor are top tier, instead of high fantasy, over the top designs with spikes all over, so it really captured the attention of the Kingdom Come Deliverance and The Witcher audience, from what I've seen

The section about new Vegas and bloodlines makes me think that "flawed masterpiece" is a very real trend

I think a big thing it does is its an actual R in the rpg. Not just in the choices you make but how you play.   Even most rpgs today are just story heavy and the choices you make are similar styles just one good, one evil.  Here the vampire and manumit paths aren't just different morality and different playstyles but fundamentally different questions.  The vrakhiri path looks beyond time as Coen is encouraged to sever ties with the past and embracing endless possibilities. Whereas the manumits are about reclaiming the past no matter how imperfect and flawed

Great analysis as always!!!

I remember how I went to the local game shop to play Blood Omen 2 after school.

The game catched me so far, that I wanted a PS2 after that. An about half a year later I got the PS2 for christmas.
The first two games I got with it were Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen and GTA Vice City.

Those were the first games that captured my attention and I loved it. I played the other Legacy of Kain sequels but I just looooooved Blood Omen 2, even though I had a few game breaking bugs while playing it :D

I am really looking forward to try this game. And a lot of this hype is because of you mate. Thanks and keep pumping out quality content!
