Long Standby at switching off is unnecessary. Simply switch off main power after switching into Standby.
I know what i'm saying, because i'm an old Electronics Engineer 😁

Food for thought... Home stereo tube amps don't have standby switches. Old tube radios never had a standby, and they all lived and worked for a long long time...

Best use for a standby switch is when changing guitars with the unplugging/replugging going on. You won't get all the noise/popsbuzzing.

I think you left out one thing that has shocked and even killed people with tube amps: the polarity switch.

My grandfather grew up with valves from the 1930’s he said the standbye switch was there to warm the valves up before full power was put through them, it stopped the valves wearing out quicker, valves last longer if you warm them up. A standbye switch is a bit like a thermostat on a car engine, it allows the engine to warm up before opening up the car cooling system.
