A 1958 Fender Champ. Back in high school, in the 60s, I traded a friend my gold-colored pair of shoes for the amp. I bet he no longer has the shoes!

The oldest amp I own is an Epiphone Electar from the early 50s. It was my grandfathers. He died in a fire when my dad was 8 so I never met the man. I doesn't currently work. I had it gone through by an amp guy and he got it working great....for 5 minutes and then it died again. I would love to hear it again but I will keep it forever. Its my only connection to the man I probably got my talent from. No one else in my family is a musician.

My oldest is a "Western Auto" Valco guitar amp that was sold by a popular auto parts chain back in the early 60s, I think.

My favorite amp is one I found in the trash. Its Peavey Heritage VTX hybrid tube amp. The speakers had been ripped apart and it had no front grill. I brought it home, plugged it in and hooked it up to a cabinet. It fired right up and worked wonderfully. Its 130 watts of 6L6 power tubes and sounds awesome!!

Ampeg Reverberocket 2 amplifier Vintage 1960's and my Fender Jazzmaster. I bought them new in 1964 I believe it was and the first two songs our band played was "I can't get No Satisfaction" and "Dirty Water." and if you care they were purchased at Sam Ash on Quinton road Brooklyn NYC.

The oldest amp I own is a 1958 Klemt Echolette B40 bass amp. Klemt changed the model name to B40N in 1960. It's the German take on the Fender 5F6-A circuit. It uses 3 EC883 preamp tubes, 2 EL34 power tubes and a GZ34 rectifier tube. I plug into the first input on channel 1 and jump it from the second input on channel 1 into the first input on channel 2.
I slam the front of the amp with a tube screamer. And it simply sings for days. I use Mullard tubes. To get the amp screaming at a lower volume, I use a 5Y3 rectifier tube. It's all original except for the tubes. It will be on my funeral pyre sometime in the distant future.

Mid 80s Peavey Basic 60 with 12" Sheffield.  Brilliant loud clean and takes pedals perfectly.  I have a collection of tube amps and custom cabinets but I still love my Peavey.

My only tube amp I personally own, I have so many in the studio, my personal tube amp has never had a cap job. It sounds fantastic. It was built by Steven Fryette in 1998. So, the amp is approaching 30 years, which blows my mind.

I have a Universal Audio Lion pedal, and it sounds like glory. :face-blue-smiling:

'59 210 Fender Super, Tweed... $30... now recapped.

I've an older one. A small practice amp by the name Tempo, guitar shaped speaker grill. No idea what year, but it is old. Everyone who serviced it wanted to buy it from me.

I have had extremely good luck with AI on google waking me thru 2 silvertone rebuilds.  Yes they sounded bad until i hooked them to 8 ohm 12 inch celestion g12k-85.   Most awesome.

My buddy has a first issue Peavey Bandit she screams. A  great amp

1950 valco supreme. All original, not recapped or service, no hum no static only volume pot.  Its perfect so far.

Oldest amp in my house is my pre date code sunburst thing made by some company  around 1930s probably.   Took it to Dennis Kaeger of Ampeg fame when he was still with us.  It powered up and played but quickly faded out.
He originally asked me why i wanted to spend money to fix an amp that just looks cool.  I told him it was all about the tone. I said when it worked it sounded fantastic.   He kinda side eyed me and said ok. I'll fix it for ya.
Got a call from him a couple of weeks later. He said Erik. This amp sounds amazing. He said it was one of the most clean representations of music he'd ever heard.  I said i told you it was all about the tone with this one.
Ha, i then said i guess it's done..
He said, Nope.
He called back a couple of weeks later n said come on up and grab it.
I went up and he then told me, yeah it was done when we talked earlier but everyone there wanted   to play with it before i took it back.  Everyone in his shop( 2 or 3 other guys and his brother a guitar tech) came out to tell me how much they loved that amp.
They never told me who they thoughtbuilt it. I asked maybe an early Valco? Dennis said it's likely but with no codes he couldn't be sure. He only knew it was pre date codes and because of the war around the time of date codes being introduced,  it's likey from before the war started.
It has 3,   1/4" inputs with no tone or volume knobs. Plug n play at it's finest. It also has a weird mic input with a volume control for it.
With my Mutron Phaser and a delay in front, Les Paul volume cranked it is early Rush to a T.
It's about 12 to 15 watts with 2 large coke bottle 6L6 power tubes.  It breaks up so nicely.

Mid 70’ Vibrochamp. About to get its second recap. 8“ Weber Alnico

1966 Ampeg Reverberocket.

my guitar player brother just retired his beloved 1964 Fender Princeton Reverb for a new Magnatone

Traynor tube amps kick freaking ass

Well before today my oldest amp was a 1970s silverface champ I got off eBay in the early aughts for just under $200 which I thought was a lot. It’s a little wonky, not original speaker but has a replacement speaker that was considered appropriate. Also it’s a champ in a super champ cabinet.

That was until today. I was at a sort of music store going out of business sale. I saw an old-old amp with no tag. Asked how much it was and the lady said $50. Then she kept talking saying it ”makes a sound” if you plug it in but “needs work”. She said it was really more of a decoration.  I asked if she could do $30 because it needs work and she accepted. What I got was a 1950s Silvertone 1340. It still has a two prong plug on it meaning it hasn’t been serviced in at least 40 years. The plug is scary looking and the amp is in rough shape. I’m not even going to plug it in. It’s going straight to my amp repair guy.
