"How is this worse looking than the N64 games?!"
Because that cartoon predates them. It was made in the same window as the original DKCs.

"a clown walking into the ring" isn't that logan Paul

In fairness to the DK cartoon; it was made in the 90's when all CGI cartoons were still in it's infancy.  Hence why it's a little rough looking.

Fun fact: Princess Peach was actually considered as an opponent for Punch-Out!! on the Wii during development.

Producer Kensue Tanabe revealed in an interview that she was dropped because, "...the thought of punching women out made me give up my idea."

Also Mario was planned to be the ref again but the dev team thought his appearance wouldn't fit with the cel-shaded cartoony art-style.

Ok, now we need some SummoningSalt reactions to the Punchout Speedruns

7:42 fun fact: mike tyson once tried to play the nes punchout, but couldn't beat glass joe. glass joe keeps his guard up for most of the fight to try to teach the player that button mashing isn't going to work, and that this is a puzzle fighter

28:37 I mean… it would just be a case where jumping is not, in itself, forbidden. You aren’t NOT allowed to jump, you’re just not allowed to HIT somebody while you’re off the floor.

Since you brought it up lot of the boxers in the pre-Wii Punch-Out games are actually headswaps of one another as a means of saving memory. Like Heike Kagero uses the same body type as Dragon Chan, same for Bear Hugger and Mad Clown.

31:27: No, Bumbles said that the Barrels and Bananas are just part of the presentation when making an entrance, not using them for fights; that’s why he said “Entrance Theatrics”! PAY ATTENTION!!!

the I want to eat his children line mike expalined just before the clip shown that that's his pre fight mantra "my defense is impregnable my style is impetious and I will eat his heart/children" that's his pre fight meditation

For the knees, modern boxing evolved from a state where there was limited grappling allowed, you could have a second boxer to switch for the main boxer, rounds lasted until somebody went down, and the count was to 30 instead of 10. The knees are part of both that heritage and also part of determining low blows.

Also, two arcade games, one NES game, one SNES game, and a Wii game.

6:25 To be fair for MTG  Elves are sort of a Green restricted color, while dragons can be any color. In fact one of the big bads of the lore is a dragon using power from whole color wheel spectrum. So that's kinda why you find dragons all over the place.

Bro, PLEASE do the TF2 merc warcrimes and  boyfriends videos

31:47 entrance theatrics are things like Tiger's flying carpet or Don Flamenco resurrecting the rose. If King Hippo only wore his crown while approaching the ring, but took it off before the fight, it would fall under entrance theatrics

31:40 Before and after the fight, not during it. As long as there aren't any foreign objects involved or in the ring during the fight, that is usually allowed. You can even come in on a crane, while playing an electric guitar and with pyrotechnics.

Now I want this guy to watch clips of the Donkey Kong Country cartoon. 🤣

I mean the purpose of knee pads in pro wrestling is to absorb some of the impact from performing or selling certain high impact moves. In fact one of the first things that typically go out on wrestlers who have high flying styles are the knees because of how much wear and tear that part of the body suffers. Towards the end of the 90s and the start of the 2000s, Stone Cold Steve Austin (while not a high flyer) had surgery done on both his knees and had to wear bracers in the ring, heck Keiji Mutoh/the Great Muta how to change up his style by the turn of the millennium because he had undergone several wrestling related knee injuries.

Jumping is considered a maneuverability tactic. Muhammed Ali was known for his flighty boxing style, which included hopping and bouncing around his opponent.

6:11 Not really. As this is mostly populated with cards from the Battlin Boxer archetype from the Zexal era, an archetype that overtly plays into the boxing theme. With Des Kangaroo and Master of Oz being the only outliers as older cards from the GX era.

The best way to think about Punch-Out is not as a boxing/fighting game, but as a boss rush game with boxing as its backdrop.  Each character has specific tells for what they're going to do, your job is to react to those tells and then follow up with moves to damage them.
