The moment the KV-1S became a tank again. With Ron on hand to help, Beau lifts the fully restored turret onto the hull, and after months of rebuilding blown-apart housings, fabricating idler wheels, repairing a peeled barrel and refitting the running gear, this Soviet heavy tank suddenly looks incredibly impressive and imposing. That silhouette is unmistakable.

Then it's straight onto the mudguards, and there's a lot more to them than you'd think. Beau starts fabricating the new set, works out the bend on the rear mudguard using an extremely high tech calculation method, presses it, and then discovers the calculations are... off. Next episode: more mudguards.

The KV-1S was a Soviet heavy tank produced from 1942 at the Chelyabinsk factory under extreme wartime pressure. Our example is undergoing one of the most ambitious restorations we've ever attempted, rebuilding components that simply don't exist anywhere else in the world.
