I like how so many comments are "That piece of junk? What a waste of time and money," without realizing this KV-1s is one of only five left in the world and the only example left outside of Russia. That alone is worth the time and effort!

Kurt, for more feedback on the video length, you got it perfect! Each wheel was an “adventure”, and we get to appreciate the work of your team. We also enjoy learning esoteric details of the design. Well done by all.

Hello!
This is not a simple KV-1, this is a KV-1S (high-speed) КВ-1С(Скоростной)
On the left side there are rare road wheels, just for the S model, they were produced in a very small series due to production problems. They were produced for almost two months, from December 1941 to January 1942.
It could have ended up in France with the SS division das Reich as a trophy, there were photos of their captured T-34-76 in Normandy.
Good luck in restoring this monster))

You knocked enough rust out of those wheels to build half a Stug.

If I've learnt one thing from watching you guys over the years, it's that nothing is impossible. No doubt this will go from Range wreck to superb example like so many other tanks have in your care.

Your gas suppliers are going to love this resto Boys !! If you arent going to make it a runner and your short wheels you could enquire at the foundry in Wangan they might be able to cast them.

Ausarmour motto; The impossible we do at once, miracles take a little longer!!! You guys just get the job done, no fuss, no bother 👏 👍🏻

my 4 year old son watched this with me and loved it, he was cheering along as the wheels got heated up and pulled off.

This should be the motto of your shop "We do not do these things because they are easy, we do them because we thought they would be easy" LOL. I do hope the contacts you may have in Russia are helpful in this project.

0:46 Now we understand why the Leopard 1 ARV had to be repaired first.

Having seen you lads turn a pile of rusted scrap into a functioning Stug there is no doubt that this project will turn out EPIC !!

Can't wait to see this one finished. The KV-1 has always been my favorite Soviet Tank.

this channel deserves more money and an international tv show. it teaches mechanics, history, how to restore difficult things, and a decent bit of good natured humor. These guys are amazing, I appreciate the work yall are doing to restore and remember history. Keep at it lads!

It's nice to see the "real" effort put into removing the wheels and bearings. Some of the other restorations only show what works. They don't show the problems involved. Thanks Kurt and the guys for your perseverance in getting the parts off.
