Bro got the code cracked, this video is long enough for dinner prep, eating dinner and the following bathroom journey. Truly the goat.

I fully support breakdowns as long as the movie. The fact that you take so much time to read and reference the source materiel when making these breakdowns is just amazing. These breakdowns are an absolute highlight

I love the bit of foreshadowing when Officer Bowers says "Ain't nothing like a little fear to make a paper man crumble" while talking to Henry, but ultimately when Pennywise is defeated, trying to morph, and retreats into an early hibernation, his head begins to crumble

This film came out 27 years after the TV mini series. 27 years is the same time between the entities cycles in Derry.

Bill Skarsgard has very quickly become one of the absolute best character actors to do it, at a relatively young age. I can't wait to see what he does across his career.

1:18:41 I remember this moment on the Blu ray documentary. He says something like "who's ready to beat the shit out of me!" In his regular voice while high fiving all the kids. It's hilarious and heartwarming.

I love how in Welcome to Derry that Pennywise’s eyes are always glowing like the Deadlights.

18:19 the deleted scene FRIED ME 🤣🤣🤣

Him and Henry don’t exactly “help” eachother out. Patrick kind of just takes advantage of Henry and takes care of himself. While Henry stands there in shock. Which I think also shows how messed up Patrick is and will do whatever he wants because he is the only “real person”.

Pennywise dance is actually "The Fools Dance" often used in comedy musicals and plays to show off what a "fool" the character is. They are a literal clown, so a Fool's Dance fits.

11:27 Kind of like Heath Ledger messing with his latex and make up with his tongue when he was playing the Joker and they just kind of turned it into a little habit the character had... 🤔 I like it...

11:58 I love how Tim Curry used a Brooklyn accent for Pennywise...on brand for his East Coast connection with Bob Gray 👌

I was never too mad about Ben being the historian instead of Mike. It would make sense that the new kid in town, with no friends and insecure about his weight, would spend a bunch of time in the library. But I do wish they had given Mike more bright ideas to contribute as much to the group as he did in the book, or maybe show that he had a special relationship with Ben to explain why he stays back in Derry and picks up the historian role

I have to commend King's ability to flesh out a story and set a world with every detail about a person's life covered, but when you've been reading/listening to a book for hours and the extended details go nowhere or has no reason to be known for story purposes, it really makes you wish there was an abridged version sometimes. Listening to IT now, and yes we don't need to hear about Stan's life, but I can see why King kept it in. You go in learning about this first character and then he dies right away, making you wonder just what kind of story this will be.

In the book, during the blood oath hand cutting scene, it says Stanley briefly holds the glass over his wrist before cutting his palm. I think that indicates Stanley already being suicidal as a child.

Intentional or not, the makeup artists gave Bill's Pennywise a look that made it seem like his mouth had horns. The shape of it coming up from the corners of his lips and ending above his eyes in that angle. Which if it was intentional, was clever as that's where you'd see Pennywise's true form, the Deadlights (inside the creature's mouth when it opened). If it wasn't, it was definitely a creepy look that made that version stand on its own.

Missed opportunity to start the video by saying "we're breaking IT down" followed by a dance montage

I will say that when Pennywise appears to Eddie after being the Leper, his balloons are in an inverted triangle formation. Some people have theorized that this (as well as the inverted pyramid of balloons Pennywise floats down off the Paul Bunyan statue with in Chapter Two, while specifically taunting Richie about being gay) are drawing a parallel with the Pink Triangle symbol. The inverted pink triangle was used by the Nazis to identify homosexual and other “deviant” men in concentration camps.
The symbol has since been reclaimed by the queer community as a symbol of pride. (Lesbians were also put in camps, but given the “asocial” marker of the black inverted triangle)
I feel like that might be a stretch, because Pennywise’s balloons are always red, and the red inverted triangle was used to identify prisoners in the camps as political prisoners, anybody who wasn’t into fascism basically.
It is interesting to see, considering that Eddie is hinted to be gay in the book and the miniseries… there might be something there but I don’t know

Eddie’s mom isn’t gonna kill him, his mom is gonna have him in the emergency room because she’s a hypochondriac, and if he has grass scraps on his knees she would bring him to the emergency, because she’s overreacts, and Eddie needing medical supplies would make an opportunity for her to replenish her narcissistic attention supply, and get her the negative attention from the doctor because if Eddie needs medical supplies clearly he’s lying and needs medical attention, and needs to go to the hospital. Understand a little better now, it’s the Munchausen by proxy, she’ll take him to the hospital for absolutely no reason other than to get attention for herself…

The two IT movies are two of my all time favorites, I love them. I finally watched welcome to Derry and OMG, I’m mildly obsessed. How can these stories be so scary and gross yet so beautiful? To me that’s perfection. Beauty where you wouldn’t expect it. The kids and adults casted are perfect. And I LOVE the Shining connection. The guy that played Dick was amazing in that role.
