Bless her little heart

My chihuahua also has a great personality, very friendly to every one walks up to every one. I also had  my reservations about getting a chihuahua from what I heard about them. I am so glad I got him he is the best thing that has ever happened to me. He has certainly has changed my opinion about chihuahuas. He is my angel from heaven.

I refuse to pay for any crazy medications gor my baby boi. Hes 14 now and going through all of this. When i adopted him i swore on a holistic lifestyle for him. Warm water, local honey for inflammation and its so good for also adding a moisturizer for the throat, lemon all mixed is the same as a dm cough syrup. Herring oil, liver topper on his holistic kibble, refined coconut oil. So many good holistic vets on yt. Ive learned so much and even my vet was surprised at how much i knew and was doing for him. Removing the collar for a harness, humidifier to add moisture to the air. Raised food and water dishes to prevent neck strain. Short walks instead of longer ones. And i massage his throat when he starts to cough and it can prevent an oncoming fit. No harsh chemical cleaners, perfumes, room sprays or incense. Beef trachea or chicken feet for chondroiten and glucosamine.

My dog has been having troubles breathing for the past 3 weeks, yesterday she was given same diagnose. I lost the ground under my feet. I can’t accept the thought that she will be slowly chocking and I’m helpless. So I thank you for your calming voice, you helped me feel not so lonely in all this disaster. I really needed this video… like no other…

Aww poor baby girl❤
I wish the most BESTEST,  LONGEST AND HAPPIEST doggie life possible!❤
It seems you love and adore her and she's in great hands.  I know she loves you for loving her❤❤❤

Thank you. My chihuahua has a collapsed trachea. I’m a nervous wreck. She is a little love.

God bless you this lovely cute chihuhua all the best

Omg my chihuahua Nala looks exactly like your sweet baby. Mine started doing this about 2weeks ago and i started looking up trachea collapse its the exact same cough we go to the vet this week. Prayers for everyones baby's on here 8:52

One of huas had the collapse treachea problem.  Maybe not as bad as yours😔 but mine stilled lived for 16 years. Still miss her SO much.

My vet  has her on hydrocodone. She is over 20 years old

Good for you. I'm glad you got a second opinion from a veterinarian who really cares for your babies and your emotions. ❤️

Thank you and Caramel so much for this video. It was really helpful and comforting because we also have a little Chihuahua with trachea problems and can totally understand how bewildering it can feel trying to understand how best to deal with it……Caramel is so fortunate……..You can just feel you compassion and love for her…..

I have a 16-year-old chihuahua with partial tracheal collapse, which the veterinarian said was largely age and breed specific. He is currently taking RX Temaril-P and Hydrocodone for additional coughing as needed. It's helping, and I hope he still has 3 or 4 years more with me.

Our male chihuahua was diagnosed with the same thing, he was 10 years old. The vet wanted to do blood tests, xrays, and an ekg. We scheduled everything for the next week, at a cost of $800. He also had periodontal disease and was given medication for his cough and his infected teeth. They said his heart murmur was due to the periodontal disease. After 6 days his cough really hadn't changed but he was eating and sleeping well and running around fine.  My husband took him out for his bedtime pee, the dog ran back when he was done doing his business, came into the garage, then collapsed. Vet said it was a heart attack but I think his trachea collapsed. He was trying to draw breath and couldn't get any. This may have caused a heart attack, I don't know. All I know is he was one of the smartest, loyalist, dogs I've ever had. I cried for a week. Still miss him.
I hope your little girl lives a long time and you are able to love her everyday.

Thank you so much for this video.  My vet told me with a big smile that she had solved the problem that she thought my dog had a collapsing trachea and gave me no education.  So when I looked on Google the first thing I saw was "How to know when to say goodbye to your dog with collapsing trachea" and i went into a several months denial/depression.  I'm going to another vet in hopes of getting an confirmatory xray and some better understanding because my dog is only 3.

Caramel is so sweet! My 13 year old Chi is the love of my life too 💞Similar to your situation, she started coughing and gagging for which the vet diagnosed as collapsing tracheal with an ‘old lady heart murmur’.  Like you, this made me very worried and I’d cry several times a day. But, being a big believer in natural health I came up with a wellness approach that is working very well. Firstly, I added a humidifier to the room she prefers to be in, to help keep her throat moisturized. I also started having her lick 1/8th is teaspoon of very dark honey, which is known to help alleviate coughs and soothe the throat. This helped tremendously! But, as it can be high in calories, I cooked up a watery concoction of spinach, dried mullein flowers and nettle leaves. The spinach serves the purpose of adding vitamins and flavour while the mullein is a well documented herb for opening the airway and the nettle is great for reducing inflammation. After straining the spinach leaves out, I use the infused water in her food, with a couple drops of hemp CBD. Not only has she stopped coughing but she is sleeping soundly through the night and her belly bloat has gone away. Her breathing rate is still too rapid though (from the murmur) so we are going back to vet as I want her heart condition addressed. I recognize a prescriptive may be necessary for that but I’m pleased at how the natural approach has markedly improved her tracheal collapse! Like you, I want not only many more years with my wee girl but I want her to feel as good as possible. Your story is uplifting, thank you!

Thanks for sharing. My chiweenie had the same condition and was given prednisone and GABA to calm her down. It was magical she was up and back to her old self in a few days. You baby is so cute ! Wishing she stays well. See u on your next video . 🐶

Just today my 14 yr old Westie Oliver was diagnosed with trachea collapse. He has been so so active his whole life. Ball-obsessed-throw-and-fetch all day until recently when he developed a hacking cough. I have anxiety and it’s taking so much restraint  not to despair about his quality of life and how painful it sounds to just breathe. Thank you for your video and your loving support to Carmel and other canines  with this condition. Your hopeful caring calming words (and watching Carmel enjoy the head scratching!)eased my mind. My best to you and Carmel😘🐾

One doesn't realize these are the same tests performed for us in Hospital.  It really behoves us to take out "Pet Insurance."
I speak from experience.
Also, Andy's correct in familiarizing yourself with their diagnosis & treatment plans.

Swelling came down after antibiotics.
