We were still cutting studio feature films with 2013 Mac Pros as recently as the last couple years. They just work.

I think its a good price to have it on display on a shelf.

“‘Can’t innovate anymore’ my ass” is my favorite delayed self-own quote.

I bought one of these a while ago. Upgraded the CPU to a Xeon E5-2697 v2, upgraded the RAM to 64GB of full speed 1866MHz and the SSD to a Samung 970 EVO Plus 2TB and that SSD speed upgrade from the factory SSD alone made a huge improvement. Runs macOS, Win11 and CachyOS VERY well -  Its my daily driver desktop! I have 4x Dell 22" 1080p displays and a 27" 4K display (in 1440p mode because 4K on a 27" is too small) and it hauls for daily use!

I had to double take when I saw the view count and the subscriber count lol. Super high quality content for being a brand new channel! Keep up the good work, I look forward to being able to say I was here when you had hundreds of subs once you have hundreds of thousands xD

Non-techie person here 👋 I have no idea why this video popped up on my feed but I stuck around for the entire 15 mins 😂 great vid!

This review should be about how you set up linux on this machine to use it properly.

This is one of most beautiful and minimalist apple products ever done, together the iPod shuffle 3g, and both of them despite that had a bad reception cause they were so minimal but work amazing for that were they made.

This Mac Pro is still upgradable and serviceable, and can support modern macOS without any problem (with a special patch), for sure it could last many years from today, and  paired with a Thunderbolt Display, it would be a truly amazing professional combo.

I passed down two of these to my kids. It’s their web browsing, media consumption, gaming desktop. True gems in my eyes

Wow!  I thought he's joking about the price.  It's real.  There are many on eBay.  Amazing!

I tried this for fun with my Mac Pro which I had from new as a video editing station with Final Cut Pro back in the day.  It is still a remarkably capable machine.  One thing that no one seems to mention when discussing the Mac Pro 2013 is that both GPUs can be set as GPUs.  It is well known in most situations only one is actually used but in Windows 10 you can install AMD Crossfire and run Steam games and have the full power of the two GPUs.If you ever want to drop back to macOS you can do a Net Install easily.  It also dual (or triple or quadruple) boots very well, just hold the Option key at start up and select any attached bootable external device.

Bought one last year for $200, got it to 64gb and 12 cores for another $50. Those prices have crept up a little...I'd also recommend a fan utility, Apple turned the dial towards quiet and if I'm really pushing it, it'll show GPU artifacts and hang...doesn't happen if you bump up the fans a little.

I still have a working 2013 iMac that this machine would blow away.   When support was officially dropped, prices fell below $500 and I was tempted.

Then I decided I would be happier not spending that money.

I remember when the Apple Trash Can Computer came out. It got a lot of praises back then. Although I'm not an Apple owner personally, I use apple computers at my day job. The bosses didn't upgrade to this. At work, I had the original Cheese Grater G5 desktop, and they upgraded my computer to 2013 iMac. As for the Trash Can version, what I was blown away by, was their website design for this. Whoever designs Apple's websites are Web Design Gods. The techniques at the time with A Vertical Dot Navigation for the website sections, and when you scrolled up and down the website with your mouse wheel, you would see the computer disassemble and reassemble in a smooth animation, and stop when your mouse stops.
That website design could have cost $1 Million USD minimum.

Fair enough! I'm a graphic and web designer, illustrator, photographer, A/V pro, still rocking a (fairly aggressively upgraded) pair of classic cheese graters - a 2010 and 2012 Mac Pro 5,1s. Pampered and in perfect working order – they are showing their age on the software side. Many applications and even some web pages are no longer functional, and I am maxed out on Mac OS.

Of course was holding out for the M5 Mac Studio, and due to the AI fueled RAM-pocalaspe it'll now cost $1500 more! OUCH.

Whoa! This is an incredible channel already and it looks like you just got started. Keep it up!!!

I mostly use my 2013 Mac Pro as an x86 / x64 VM machine. I play a lot of GameCube and Wii games on it as well. I also have Bazzite installed on it, and it plays games really well. I can even emulate Switch games on it.

Insane quality! Great topic. What a gem channel god damn... Please more videos like this

Nice production bro wish you the best 🗿👍

not gonna lie, in the spirit of the Mac Pro line, the placement of components on that PCB is quite aesthetic - just looks so refined and futuristic! 🚀
