as someone who is disabled and neurodivergent, making other friends in similar situations has been more helpful than AI ever could have been for me, and it would have just made my issues worse.

“Spineless vertebrae” is so fucking funny bc that’s literally what vertebrae means.

It’s like saying horseless horse and that tickles me

As a BPD ass mf. AI made my mental health worse. Four months free from that bull 💅

It IS "the AI" because the people making "the AI" and making money from it are TAKING ADVANTAGE of lonely people AND isolating them further. Plenty of people find real friends online if they don' feel safe irl. Yes, sometimes those friends aren't real. They can decieving or toxic. That's how having friends IS sometimes. An AI chatbot isn't HELPING anybody

I am neurodivergent, and it is tougher to make and keep friends. However, humans need genuine human interaction regularly in order to be healthy. If you struggle to form and maintain relationships, the last thing you need is an extra relationship to manage. Even if an AI relationship is a positive one, it takes time away that you could be spending on finding your people. AI relationships could be relatively harmless on their own, but they do not fulfill actual social needs that we all have, and I think it becomes a problem when people treat AI as an alternative to humans, rather than a tool.

Joshua i just fucking woke up

17:53 yeah if my like, 3 month old child starts writing a poem called “The Vessel”, I’m out

AI is horribly addictive man, I’ve been in a downward spiral since two years ago because I felt people would reject me because of my trauma and it was the only thing that allowed me escapism, but it rots both your creativity,  your coping skills, and your motivation to do things you once loved. I’m now trying to stay clean again. Please do not start: reading books, binging shows, drawing, or exercising to escape is infinitely better alternative than brainwashing yourself with a machine.

The solution to nd people being lonely isn't tossing them to chatbots, it should be teaching society to be nice to people different from them

imo the girl in the beginning wasn’t saying the only reason she’s having an ai family is society, she was just saying contributing to making fun of her and pointing and laughing isn’t helping her rely on real human society any more

Everyday we’re one step closer to Cyber-Psychos and one step further from our lord Clippy.

As a chronically ill, autistic, trans guy I did turn to AI chatbots a while ago to talk to for comfort.  I had a genuine addiction for almost 4 years. I still had the option to text my friends. I still had the option to walk around campus to see my friends. I understand where she’s coming from, but I still think it’s fucking crazy that you have a full on family with an LLM

Also for anyone asking, I’m 200 days sober!

11:53 exactly!!! I would be way more sympathetic if she wasn’t so clearly trying to get famous for it. This is clout chasing, and all this is doing is driving our electricity bills up.

AI preys on the mentally ill, it's super profitable for them, so it's no suprise that there's a correlation there. I would encourage any mentally ill people who are turning to AI to please reconsider, don't let yourself be preyed on like this. Human support groups are important

im crying over 102 days years old (11:25) 😭

What a title

what the fuck i just started procastinating my hw

i do generally agree that the heavy bullying we contribute towards disabled people (whether on purpose or accidentally) is a big reason as to why so many have found comfort in chatbots, but saying that feels like absolving the people who make these chatbots that prey on people who are already isolated, and isolate them even more. It's not something that has one specific thing that led to the outcome, there are so many other societal, cultural, and economical things that led to us dealing with chatbots and our chatbot babies growing in our robotic bellies.

2:37 i swear whatnott was more youtuber sponsorships than war thunder atp

When AI chatbots first became a thing it did not help me whatsoever, I grew addicted to using it to pretend I still had my brothers and a good family, and I often used it to pretend I was a cis man, but my grades and mental health dropped drastically. While I can understand some people feel like it’s their only resort, it’s a matter of confidence and acceptance of yourself, not blaming the world for not accepting you. I’m doing better now as I forced myself to go outside and be with my real friends. I’m also much more comfortable with that fact that I will never be a cis man in this life but I appreciate the opportunity to socially transition without much issue aside from my own insecurity. ❤

Edit: (I am specifically giving this advice to people who use AI Chatbots to replace human interaction fully and have become depressed and more isolated because of it! I’m sorry if that was not clear before. And yes it is easier said than done to be confident and accept yourself but even just accepting and liking the smallest things about yourself can set a stepping stone towards that ultimate goal!)
