My 58-year-old son recently quit the church and said that because of this lawsuit, he had his name removed from the rolls of the church. He said that Mormon Stories is why he quit the church. When he told me, I told him I wasn't surprised. I refuse to fuss with him quitting. He keeps trying to get me to listen to this or that and says I refuse to listen. I gave my testimony of the truthfulness. I love him and pray for him. It is his journey. A rough one to take.

This happened to me, I typed in Mormon and Mormon stories was what came up. I watched some videos. After one or two of them I cut them ran away from YouTube for awhile. At the time I was looking for help with Come follow me lessons because I live alone. A month or two later I found midnight Mormons. Much better!

I learned when I was a journalism student at BYU (at a time when Radio Shack TRS-80 laptops were the hallmark of a hardcore journalist) that the holder of a trademark must defend it like Horatius at the Bridge, or it would become a generic term, such as aspirin, escalator, granola and trampoline. If you ever wanted to get a nasty letter from an attorney, all you had to do was call a photocopied document a "Xerox." The Church still retains the trademark on "Mormon" and is legally required to defend it against those who misuse it, especially someone who is using it to sow confusion in the marketplace.

I remember seeing a Mormon stories billboard on i15 South heading into Spanish Fork. It was there for a long time. I always thought it was a church sponsored thing. Then I looked it up one day and it took me a few episodes to realize that it was not just not the church. But was carefully critical of the church while trying to sound like the church.

I've been to Tithing Settlement for over 40 years, not once did my Bishop ever ask for a bank or financial statement from me. The Bishop trusts the members to tell the truth. Since bearing false witness and lying are considered sins in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

My personal opinion is that it does create confusion. That is the reason why I was always hesitant to look for LDS content in YouTube. So grateful I found your channel.

There was one time where I started watching a Mormon Stories video and I instantly felt like there was something wrong with it and clicked off just seconds after. I’m so glad I felt something wrong with it.

Kinda similar. My brother who has left the church said that I should check it out because it is sympathetic to LDS members who have gone through things. I quickly realizing it was a place I did not belong.

That guy knows what he's doing. He may have started sincerely, but no longer. I stumbled upon a video during the Hildebrant stuff. He came off as caring, trusting, and I honestly thought he was a member, and I can see how folks can easily go down the rabbit hole and get lost. I'm unsure why I didn't continue to watch his videos, but because of that, I found Ward Radio, Latter Daily Saints (you guys), and a few others.

I have to have compassion for anyone that is critical against us. It's not helpful to get into a fight with them, because the spirit leaves. I have to let blinding anger and hatred go.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine when working landscaping a few years ago. We were looking for LDS podcasts to listen to and he came across Mormon stories and was excited. Then after our shift he was all disappointed because it was anti slop.

The Church and its legal team are not fools. They are taking these actions because they believe they have legitimate legal grounds to do so. Organizations do not invest significant time, resources, and legal expertise into a case without believing there is a strong basis for their position. The fact that they are pursuing action against John suggests they are confident that his conduct crosses legal or ethical boundaries that warrant a response.

One does not need to be a lawyer to know this!

It’s not about being a pro or anti source. It’s about looking like it is affiliated with the church

My favorite moment of that episode on Mormon Stories is when the co-host left when you guys discussed sin, obedience, and gender.

Attacking our faith is one thing, but, saying the savior atonement is insidious, that so sad and sickening.

I was duped by them until I started seeing the crud and negativity and lies that were being thrown around.

In my many years as a convert to the LDS church I have never been asked to produce any bank statements… and I have been a Relief Society President and our bishop has helped a few single women with kids with food assistance who were not members of the church…

I totally listened to a “Mormon Stories” podcast thinking it was pro-LDS and it got more and more confusing as the story progressed. I kept waiting for the story to turn around and have a “come to Jesus” moment. Toward the end I finally realized what was going on. So, I do agree that their branding can cause confusion.

When I listened to Mormon Stories, I was upset that the person seemed to have been misjudged or treated unfairly. Since I was listening with empathy, I wanted the situation to be resolved so the person could find healing and come back. After listening to a few of these, I realized that the true intent was not healing and understanding, but decontructing and destroying faith.

48:22 There was a comment on the video Ward Radio did on this clip. Someone said their bishop asked to see their bank statements. They said no. It escalated to the stake president. The bishop got reprimanded. Because if that ever happens, it's wholly inappropriate.
