Instead of saying "slaves", you can say "unwilling and unpaid workers”.

Ew. Dubai does not have a "homey" vibe. It's gross. Everyone trying to show off their wealth, everything is fake and shiny, people are rude. Yuck. I'll never go back.

Being an influencer is a superficial and soulless existence, Dubai is a superficial and soulless city🤷🏼‍♀️

not surprising that families who don’t respect their own kids autonomy would not bat an eye at strangers not having autonomy, especially when they benefit from their labor. love your videos!

reminder to boycott UAE (and it's gold), other than basically enslaving their foreign workers, they also have a heavy participating hand in RSF's ethnic cleansing of Sudan

@MushroomMamaa 2 months ago

The other ironic thing about Dubai is they host this “anti trafficking” event where it’s said most of the workers are unpaid “volunteers”. Imagine working at a global anti trafficking event in Dubai while BEING a trafficking victim working for free. I’m so glad I’m not rich/vain/self centered/stupid enough to fall for this propaganda they try to push.

I don't understand how someone can say they love Dubai due to all of the conveniences without realizing it's just someone else doing those jobs - do you think they have all the conveniences you do??
Also, am I the only one grossed out by the look of high luxury?? It's horrible. These influencers are not selling me.

You’re honestly the best. Such a good video and I TOTALLY agree. As a British person I see many many people moving there, calling themselves ‘expats’, and then turning their nose up at migrants seeking a home on our shores. They fail to realise they are also immigrants in a deeply backwards city.

Those influencers are giving cult vibes with their “we completely trust the leadership here”.

The film "Thor: Ragnarok" has a useful expression "prisoners with jobs".

The sound of fireworks in the back kinda perfectly fits in w the dystopian vibes here somehow

I don't trust anyone who has been to Dubai for any reason other than "had to go there for work and couldn't opt out on ethical grounds"

Dubai reminds me of The Capital from The Hunger Games.

“The more you hold something in contempt, the more you want a t-shirt of that thing” speaks to me on a deep level

"250 years of blowing stuff up". as a non-american, that's the most accurate way i've heard an american describe the US, by far.

All these influencers claiming to love Dubai are the PERFECT EXAMPLE of “ignorance is bliss”

23:43 low crime rates can also just mean not counting certain crimes or convicting certain crimes

This is a lot older than influencers. I studied Arabic in college. Everyone was very open about the human rights abuses of different countries, you could not take a class and NOT learn about the kafala system, and yet every class had 3-4 people who idolized Dubai. It was usually the business guys (shocker).

Dubai is the perfect OZ, there is no real infrastructure, the sewersystems does not function properly and all the houses behind the facade are just poorly made, cause slaves…not craftsmen are behind it. The paradox of having a lot of money and not investing in good stuff, it is so vainglorious that it will fall down. I think the place is perfect for the biggest plant of garbage disposal and sorting, in the world, that would sort out other problems at the same time.

The look is so cold and distant, you can feel the presence of people under the stairs.
