Great video, love the naming scheme

I finally get a switch with 10G and now you all are ballin' with 25G. *Kicks rocks*

"Alright, we'll just see what happens." -- why I joined this channel! :)

In following videos where these guys appear together, you should mix them around in a different order just to piss off those with OCD 😂 NGL they look damn good together with the concurrency between the faceplates in the right order

All 3 nodes of an HA cluster sitting on a shelf 2 meters above ground held by just a few screws to the wall? ;) ...Had my own 3 node cluster for several years, worked awesome. My pfsense VM once had an uptime of 330days between updates where as the nodes could update whenever needed - pfsense would just be live migrated to another node while the node it was living on rebooted.

Alvin, Simon, Theodore. I understand that reference. Dam we are old.

45 labs must be making a push.  Every youtuber is doing a 45 drives upgrade.

Those are sweet systems, that paint job… so great.

Self deprecating humor is one of my favorite past times

Thanks for doing this buildout.. I need to rebuild my 3-node Ceph cluster soon, so this is a great guide!

For ONLY $77 more, you might as well buy the HL8. Double the drive capacity and more room for activities.

Where can we get that PCIE adapter at the 2:06 mark? I don’t see it linked in the description.

How this channel still doesn't have at least 1 million subs is beyond me! Thanks for the great content chief!

Elbow grease is my favourite homelab technique next to percussive maintenance used on those pesky devices that refuse to fall in line.

ceph - quick to set up with promox, and easy to mess up in non-obvious ways.  I used it for about a year to learn about it, and liked it generally.  It's not a budget storage thing, and one lesson I really learned is how sensitive it is to latency on storage.  it's not a great idea to use consumer-level SSD's for example, and an even worse idea to mix classes of devices as it will really drag down your whole storage speed.  Even mixing interfaces, like SAS/SATA and NVMe is noticeable even if they are all SSDs. I will say I never lost data on it, so it's really resilient, especially with a larger cluster.  3 nodes is fine to play with, but I'd really want 5 as a true minimum, and 10GbE as the floor for networking speed too. I eventually had 8 nodes running mixed workloads, but my storage allocation was all unbalanced and not really optimal with a mix of devices, so I ran into a lot of bottlenecks and unpredictable throughput.  I'll try again sometime, applying my own learned lessons, when I have the cash to do it "right".

Thank god. I had no idea what Ceph was and just YOLO installed it on a single node and messed with it but after a billion errors I didn't understand trying to just to do a proxmox upgrade and gave up. Thanks for the explanation since I now have a 3 node cluster I can mess around with it knowing what it actually is lol.

i love your videos man, since i've discovered your channel, you are a provider of knowledge and laughter, thank you for that !

This is definitely something I'm interested in. Nice video on the topic of ProxMox clusters, by the way.

As someone contemplating trying Ceph, this was helpful, thanks

I named my cephalopod test cluster the same way at work 😂😂😂
