Simon needs a new channel where they take some of his tangents and go further in-depth into the story/how Simon thinks.
Channel Name: Simon Says

The episode was actually about Simon's creepy AirBnB story.

The tangent was all the stuff about the 18th century wolf monster.

My mum had a wolf dog, named Chaos. Absolutely massive he was, raised with two huskies and a golden retriever who were all older and was just as friendly and lovable as any dog. But when he'd had enough "play time" and gave you a snarl you respected his decision immediately.

Regarding the AirBnB story, I have a feeling the reason why AirBnB gave Simon a complete refund is because he uncovered outright crimes taking place and they didn't want Simon to sue the heck out of them. Simon, if you see this message, it might be interesting to see if the house is still available on the site or if has been completely taken down. 😐😐

I wanted to say the beast’s belly being “lined with buttons” could’ve just been nipples and the beast in question that day may have just been a female with pups which would explain how fierce she was about fighting. She could’ve felt threatened. Only a thought but loved this episode! Keep it coming Fact Boy!

"Brotherhood of the Wolf" is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen, French or otherwise. Vincent Cassell was SAVAGE

Yes Simon. Wolf dogs are real. I had a friend who had one and it was huge! Typically, they are larger than their parents. I have actually petted this creature!
About 100 miles from me is a rescue shelter out in the country and one of the things they do is take in wolf dogs.
The animals can sometimes be unpredictable but mostly it’s how they are raised and treated that makes them risky. Many people are just frightened by them and so, treat them badly.

Wolves 100% need defenders and protectors. They can be scary, sure, but they are an absolutely instrumental part of any ecosystems they naturally inhabit. They are what is known as a "keystone species," which means that they play a key role in maintain the health and balance of an ecosystem.

When early American settlers launched an effort to annihilate the wolf population of the US, it severely damaged several ecosystems, the most well known of which was Yellowstone.Without any natural predators remaining, large herbivores like deer and elk had massive population booms, leading to them stripping their home ranges of vegetation, which in turn lead to massive population losses for not just the herbivores, but many other species that relied on the local vegetation to thrive, other animals and insects that relied on those species in turn, and the other keystone species of the region, beavers. Even waterways rerouted or dried up, with fewer root systems stopping their waters from spreading out or soaking into surrounding dirt and beavers no longer felling trees and building dams.

Once the hunting ceased, protections were enacted, and wolves were reintroduced to these regions, herbivore populations began to stabilize, plants returned to their original ranges and beavers returned, reinvigorating waterways to flowing as they once had and creating pools for wading birds to return to.

Though some animals may be scary, and even come into conflict with humans at times, every living thing has an important place in the natural world, and sometimes the scariest to us are the most important to the places they call home.

Makes you wonder where the hidden cameras were if they were so blatantly obvious about the ones in the corners!!!

I mean, at least you pronounced Gévaudan correctly once (so far in the first few mins of the episode, we'll see where it goes!). A couple years ago, EDGE Science, Monstrum, and Overly Sarcastic Productions all released werewolf videos for Halloween and ALL of them pronounced it wrong. It was painful. Also: Le Pacte des Loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf) was fucking nuts, and I FUCKING LOVE IT for it. The makers were like "we can't decide what movie we want to make, so let's make literally every movie in one."

I’m glad they refunded you the full amount, as having security cameras in EVERY room including the BEDROOM is incredibly sketchy. As sure as I am that they’ve had bad experiences in the past and the cameras are there just to discourage bad behaviour and theft, I’m also sure it makes for an incredibly uncomfortable atmosphere. It would be interesting to know if Air B&B dropped them from their books following this. Especially since they refunded you the cost of the entirety of the holiday booking ! It’s just as well that you reported it immediately, given they said they’d remove them immediately I’m pretty sure they’re not supposed to be doing that ! 🤨🤨 It’d freak me the hell out and I’d have tried to have left too…..

My best friend growing up had a wolf/husky hybrid. She was very aggressive but they kept her on an 8 ft chain most of her life. She was pretty old when I started coming around. I would try to approach her and she wouldn't have it. Only my friend could pat her head. I talked my friend into letting her go to a sanctuary in Oklahoma.
See where I live, North Louisiana is one of the last remaining places where red wolves live. Red wolves are the MOST endangered canid species in the world. For 50 years officials tried to tell locals that they were already extinct.  That's where my friend's wolfdog comes in. When my friend was younger she saw her brother's husky mate with a red wolf. No one believed her. "Must have been a coyote" they said. The husky had 2 pups but one died shortly after birth. She was a reddish brown cream color but marked like a husky. She was gorgeous. Her parents started to believe it was a wolf because she was almost her mom's size at 6 months. By a year old she was huge compared to the husky. Of course she was also very prey driven and they had to lock her up after she killed some neighbor's goats.
Anyway the sanctuary in Oklahoma was also sure she was part wolf but they had to be certain. They checked her DNA and it proved she was half red wolf! She was 8 years old so that proved red wolves weren't extinct.  It was huge news for wolves in the US. Officials in Louisiana finally started looking into the stories from locals. This was back in 2006 and since they have found 3 red wolves and several coyotes that have red wolf DNA. The 3 red wolves were taken into a breeding program in North Carolina. You may think that was wrong but there were only around 15 to 20 red wolves in the world then. Now the number is 35.
Most people have never heard of a red wolf, let alone know how endangered they are. Really sad they don't get more coverage. They are beautiful animals with reddish brown and cream markings. Smaller than the gray wolf but bigger than a coyote. Maybe someone who reads this will spread the word about them.

Simon lives in Czech Republic and doesn't know about the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog? It's literally the pup of German Shepherd and Carpathian Grey Wolf.

Simon, dogs and wolves are only considered separate species because they generally constitute separate populations that don't interbreed. That doesn't mean they can't interbreed, just that they normally don't. But dogs once were wolves 15,000-30,000 years ago, and they haven't diverged from wolves as far as you might think. Technically, the domesticated dog is a subspecies of wolf.

don't be dissing wolves, they are just slightly different doggy's.
Also, we almost hunted them to extinction in Europe, so they definitely need protection.

I was waiting for Simon to tell us he recently rewatched Kung Fu Hustle and realized how great it is.

Still waiting…

Where I grew up, there was a local who had a wolf dog that used a rowboat as his "dog house"; he was nearly as long as the rowboat.  Big ol' doggos.

Brotherhood of the Wolf is actually a great movie dude.

Yes hybrid breeding of wolves and dogs is done both by breeders and can happen in the wild too. Some places have outlawed it because they feel they are dangerous. Some cat breeders have done similar cross breeds with smaller species of wild cat—very expensive and exotic.
P.S. Love the tangents! Also love the funny responses popped in by your editors.
