That guy was neither a dad or a father. He was a sperm donor. Nothing more.

mom's "dude friend" is a REAL ONE!! MUCH RESPECT!!

Men’s mental health is such an important issue. The guy running the game club should be ashamed that he didn’t try to get to the root cause of OPs frustration. Literally all it takes is to pull someone aside and say “are you ok?….you sure?” It truly could save lives.

Your idea towards the end to film talking to people at Warhammer World, seeing how the hobby has helped or otherwise affected them is great.
If you produced and put up such a video, it would be great free advertising for GW. Therefore, GW definitely will NOT give you permission to do such a thing.

"it's just a game" is the absolute worst thing you can say to calm someone down in a situation like this

The story with Ian nearly brought a tear. Bless your father!

Ghazghkull isn't a nod towards  Maggie. This is one of those myths that's found purchase due to endless repetition. Its just from Andy's ork larping language.

"Get in the truck, I'll show you" A true friend

I think for me, the only times I feel frustrated is when I have super crappy luck the entire game like the guy in the video, or when the game doesn't feel like it's all on a level field. Such as because people are sloppy with measuring, or when i get surprised by a rule I didn't quite understand.

Ian is a straight up G

I had a friend who was having some problems with rage at the table. He plays Tau, and with such an emphasis in other armies getting rerolls and strong bonuses where he's often hitting on 4's, or 3's at best, I think he internalized that frustration as case of especially bad luck for himself, and it really got to him.

At one point after a game, I had to flatly say that the anger has added up to a bit of a sportsmanship problem, and it can take away the fun from his opponent when he let's it slip.

He's a lot better now, I notice. I also try to focus on the story of the game a little more, because I myself have learned I don't really care about winning or losing the game, but telling a good 40k story out of the models, which I think helps him a little.

I actually plan on trying to get my gaming group to try OPR, with the simplified rules and faster games, so we don't have to let victory or defeat define the last 5 hours we spent playing.

I kinda feel like GW or any corporation would either A: Not let you do it, or B: Steal the idea. Do it in house and reduce it down to like a 45 second video where nothing remotely uncomfortable is touched upon.

Everyone thinks their part of the world has the most extreme weather 😂

Opening story is my favorite one I've heard. Resonates personally.

rage at warhammer video games at home alone? ✅
rage at actual warhammer tabletop game?! with ppl?! ❌
wtaf? isn't it supposed to be a relaxing hobby????

Had a friend continuously rules lawyer for an entire game, he was wrong in most of his arguments after we continued to stop the game to verify a rule. It's the only time ive had to call out a friend whilst playing, it turned what should have been a 3-4 hour game into just over 7 hours

The Margaret Thatcher thing is bs.

While popular fan theories suggest the name is a pun ("Mag Uruk Thraka" \(\approx \) "Margaret Thatcher"), creator Andy Chambers has stated the name was derived from Black Speech (Orkish), meaning "Big Orc Leader".

I've known 2 Paul and I'm seriously starting to believe the name is cursed lol. They were JUST like this and always drove ppl away from the group.

I can attest that if you or another player is getting visibly frustrated with a game be it 40k, magic, etc ,a simple "are you ok" will do more to deescalate the situation than a "It's just a game, chill dude."

I would recommend solo or cooperative wargaming if you're feeling low, it's lower stakes and you're not competing against another player who can ruin your night or whose night you can ruin. Lot's of smaller wargaming companies make rulesets for this and you can use any minis you want so just use your Warhammer ones if that's what you've got.
