Hello, North! James here. Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to read my hobby nightmare. Friends, family, and hobbies truly are things that can keep us grounded as humans as well as bring us immense joy and comfort even in the toughest  of times. I'm happy to hear these things are keeping you in good spirits prior to your surgery and giving you a new, positive outlook on life. Stay safe, stay awesome, and have a wonderful day!

That first story is so adorable.

Not going to lie that hh3 starter box has a lot of imperfections especially with the aquilas and other small details. If anybody is detail oriented it will drive you crazy. They are already trying to re-edit the file in CAD and CNC new templates but they just haven't hit the market yet with the new templates.

I have found in my small stint at a hobby shop off brookhurst Street in Southern California , you'll know the one, if you can show kindness by getting somebody addicted to Warhammer they'll be repeat customers and actually pay in the future 😅

The first story reminds be of an overheard conversation in a GW for many many years ago between two boys discussing ‘plaque marines’.  It always makes me smile thinking of this unit that specialises in tooth decay.

“So what armies do you guys play?”

Made me LOL in my truck

I could be wrong, but for the damaged Saturnine box story, I got the impression that he was exchanging the damaged sets, not getting more sent to him for free. If he was getting them for free, then yeah he is being unreasonable.

The Saturnine box was notorious for having damage to the dreadnought’s chest plate and other parts of the sprues. He was likely exchanging boxes with support trying to find one that wasn’t busted to hell. It was a VERY bad model run by all accounts.

I’ve had one of the damaged boxes myself, you can see it’s from the pressure of the book in the box. It’s very loosely slapped in there and during transit this heavy book slams around. They really need to figure out a way to secure the heavy rule books for future products

Thanks for the long ass Hobby Nightmare mate, doing wonders for my day on site

I love the classic weird customer hobby nightmares. I always look forward to your videos, Mr. Exile. They help me get through the work day or post work day work out. Thanks for providing us with hobby content! You're the man.

The Saturnine issue is real.  I bought the big box because I wanted to help my local store who ordered a few too many (yes, I love supporting my local store).  My kits had the damage, but honestly, when I had them built and painted I didn't much care about the damage.  I even took a risk and did GW's molten design for my Salamanders.  Love the kits to bits and I use them as Centurions proxy in my 40k army. I can send in pictures if needed.

I used to be the staffer at GW Chester in the late 90's, who organised the coach and coach trips to Games Day. All the ones I worked at were in Birmingham, either the arena or the NEC but prior to that I went to a few as a normal punter. I remember the Derby assembly rooms at the start of the 90's and even an arena at Sheffield. When I worked at GW we had a selection of mixed tapes, which was the only music that was allowed in the stores, there was stuff like Oasis, Blur, Garbage, Prodigy Red Hot Chilli Peppers etc, nothing too heavy but at least it wasn't regular boring pop music (boy bands etc) and there was no Christmas tunes, much to the relief of many customers. We had a few people come as well, not sure of what they wanted. I remember someone wanting a helicopter model and I explained we didn't sell scale models and told them where the model shop was, that would. They said it was a Warhammer model, turns out they wanted a Dwarf Gyrocopter, which I found for them. I do like hearing GW stories from that era

Gamesday was a great even and experience coming from scotland, used to have huge ques outside the NEC Birmingham, each store having there own Warhammer banner

Hey! Chattanooga mentioned 😅
We have a great crowd here in Chat. Some great top players here

This first hobby nightmare dragged me back in time, will write in soon

Wow ... That speech at the end really felt like Rentons "choose life" at the end of Trainspotting.

16:20 I traveled to England for the first time to attend Warhammer Fest. I really felt a different vibe from fans in america. It felt 'sincere'.
Also! I had a nice interaction with GW support like this too! I bought an official warhammer shirt and complained that the quality was "off" from what it used to be. The lady I talked with was polite, asked for photos- I complied, and sure enough; She sent me another shirt (of my choice) for free and gave me my money back! A++ it made me want to support GW lol

Glasgow store mentioned wonder if the Carlisle one has ever been mentioned

Hey North, late 1990’s - around 2006 I remember the coach trips and music tapes in store. Each Games Day I went to was Birmingham NEC.
I was blue lighted to A&E at the start of August from my lungs failing from previous illness. A month before that my partner had life changing surgery she is still recovering from. I agree with you that drama and nonsense as you say “ Can get in the sea “.
Great vid. 😊

I remember cutting up white dwarfs and gluing the pictures and logos onto a A4 sheet op paper, then off to the post office to make 100s of copies to give out. Good but wild days.

As a staffer in the early 2000's a lot of this resonated with me. I remember our rule - first one in picks the CD. I also remember my shock in hearing the line "strap on Sally chased us down the alley, we feared for our behinds" on a work CD.....
