10:20 I have the 2002 re-issue CD so I checked the liner notes. The comments on the track "Unto Others" state the following:

"This is the 'Anti-organised religion' track on the album, you've got one have at least one, right? I know that Anders has been hassled for seven long years about the "Slaughter Of The Soul" guitar sound... This is how you do it... Are you ready...; One Boss Heavy Metal distortion pedal, One Boss Metal Zone distortion pedal, One Peavey Supreme 160 amp... and here's the tricky part; Anders' home built cabinet with 2x10" speakers and 2x12" speakers... No more emails, phone calls or letters to Anders about this alright... Ha, ha... And yeah, you have to figure out the levels yourself."

You know tonechasing is serious when you build a new cab from scratch just to get that guitar tone

Ibanez nerd here.
The Maxxas and the S series came out at the same time, both in 1987.
The Maxxas was made as an upscale flagship for the brand, whereas the S series was launched under the Roadstar Pro line as an experimental shape.
The Maxxas was discontinued in 89' and there's no actual successor to it :)

This series is so good I love that its more than just getting a certain sound and goes into the history of the bands

I love that you're not afraid to change the format every once in a while, this is very interesting to a metal guitarist in general.

Hi Taylor I build all of the heads and cabs at Splawn and all tolex work too. The center brace is better known as the Tuning Post which distributes the sound inside of the cab evenly from the front to the back. Great job btw! 👍🏻👍🏻 ps. Dove tails are not necessary it’s just a preference. We glue,brad,and pocket screw all heads and cabs. 👍🏻👍🏻 If you ever have any questions on cab building, don’t hesitate to reach out! I’ll be glad to help! 🤘🏻

I found the correct way to tune the HM-2 with MT-2. The HM-2 distorts the midrange heavily, so it's important to adjust the midrange on the metal zone. Don't adjust the parametric midrange. If you add bass and treble, there will be less mids; if you subtract, there will be more mids. You have to turn both knobs at the same time to find a good position. The parametric midrange of the metal zone can remove an itchy frequency or add a tasty one. My setup for the HM-2: bass and treble at maximum, gain at 15%, volume adjusted so that the gain is the same as without the HM-2 (I turn the HM-2 on and off so that the noise volume is about the same with and without the pedal). As a result, I get a very good fat "chainsaw", but controllable and readable

I can’t believe I’ve never listened to this album 😳😂. It’s fuckin sick.

Thanks for the video. Lots of fun!! Slaughter of the soul is one of the most influencial metal albums ever.
I saw At the Gates live in 2008, they played the full album, it was amanzing

@systemdegenerate 7 months ago

I have the copy of the album where he discusses the rig in the liner notes. Here's what he says verbatim

"One Boss heavy metal distortion pedal, one boss metal zone distortion pedal, one peavy supreme 160 amp and here's the tricky part; Anders home built cabinet with 2 x 10" speakers and 2 x 12" speakers"

So if the liner notes are to be believed the interviews are pretty on the money

Excellent video. Perfect timing and also glad you dove in and made the cab! Not as glad as the fact as you say that it gets glossed over that it was a son and dad project to make a cab that is part of what is so important to you and me and so many, many others.. great job!
