Guerrilla restauration should really be promoted more. It's the definition of "leave a place better then you found it" and the antidote to careless trash tourism. If more people did this, then this lifestyle would scale better for everyone. You should consider getting a QR-code stencil with a link to this video and tag your work.

For future reference, steel wool is super effective for keeping out rats, mice, and other critters. It’s cheap, small, and light!

It pains me to watch you sweep up rodent droppings without wearing a mask.  It's awesome you cleaned this up, but please be careful! Hantavirus can be bad and this is exactly how you get it.

This world needs more Rosa's!   Imagine, if everyone was just to do something, not just for themselves, but to the benefit of others too, the world would be a better place.  Well done Angel!

Rosa doing fire lookout restoration. Foresty Forest doing hiking trail maintenance. I have so much respect for those who go out of their way to try and keep things accessible and usable for others to enjoy

4:33 - "I know I'm probably not doing this properly..." the reality is the fact you're doing anything at all is leagues more than anyone on the internet who might nitpick or complain is doing. The grin at the very end is so wholesome and absolutely well earned! You've made it a place someone could be completely comfortable staying in 😄

The fact you are doing this for a, yourself and obvs the channel , but also for future stayees as it were , is just adorable x

What a Great job! Even nature agrees.. with the rainbows and hummingbird!

12:15 Rosa! Also- If you start bringing peppermint essential oil with you and a spray bottle on your adventures, spraying any of these remote buildings with the oil/water mix will naturally repel spiders and rodents. SAME with your vehicle & nomadism! 💗

It's sad that such a place was allowed to degrade so much.
The view is gorgeous, and there is always a need for places to stay for a day or week.
Really cool that you did all this to help it keep a bit longer.

Thank you for doing this! I work as a firelookout in northern Alberta so very different style than this one. Each year I come back to my site though and it has been broken into and trashed. It is wonderful to see someone taking care of this site you're at!

A great way to fill holes to prevent rodents is steel wool. My understanding is that the metal really hurts to chew for them so they are less likely to re chew patched holes. For window repair the tape is awesome and if it needs more Saran Wrap well annoying to work with does a pretty good job! I know people get conflicted about painting over graffiti in these places. But thank you for doing so it makes people respect the site far more. If it was actually related to the history and area that would be one thing but grad class stuff definitely was great to cover.

Not sure if you are still in Canada but most provinces with a history of lookouts have facebook groups dedicated to restoring firelookouts and documenting their history might be worth looking at. Along with that the fire lookout association does lots of wonderful work in restoring and also manning a few lookouts across North America that no longer receive federal/provincial funding.

Nice job! Now if only the two-legged rats will do their part in maintaining it.

The no gloves while cleaning rat poop is insane

Yay, Rosa! What gets my goat is realizing there were people who hiked all the way up there, beholding all that majesty, and the most imaginative thing they can muster is to plaster juvenile, artless graffiti all over the place. SMDH

I think the rainbows and the hummingbirds were signs from whomever built/ worked/lived there that are on the otherside of the rainbow 🌈 today, sending signs of thank yous! You did a good job with what you had!

7:28 we hear the wilderness and the wilderness hears us

Thanks! Love ❤️ the longer form videos. It's great to see someone practicing what they preach. Inspired me to clean my bedroom!

3:42 Pet rats are cool. Surprise rats, not so much.

I've never been to that tower, have no idea where it is, and probably will never even see it, but THANK YOU for doing this.

9:40 it’s so faint but that is a DOUBLE RAINBOW ALL THE WAY
