Mount Koya, a World Heritage Site, is the head temple of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism in Mount Koya, Koya Town, Ito District, Wakayama Prefecture. It is a sacred place founded by Kobo Daishi, also known as Kukai. It is registered as one of the Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range.
It is also famous for its autumn foliage, attracting many visitors in the fall.

Within the temple grounds, you can tour the main hall of Mount Koya, the Kondo, the Konpon Daito Pagoda, and the Goei-do Hall.

・Kongobuji Temple
The head temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect.
It is the center of 117 temples and is where important ceremonies and memorial services are held.

・Okunoin
Regarded as the most sacred place in Mount Koya, over 200,000 gravestones and monuments line the path to Kobo Daishi's tomb.
