Though fond of penniless paper-clip salesman Jimmy (James Fox), she's determined to marry well-heeled company man Trevor Graydon (John Gavin), who loves Millie's roommate Dorothy Brown (Mary Tyler Moore). I hired Carol for an ad I created. She WAS Carol Channing, it wasn't a persona she put on. She arrived at the shoot in a red vinyl maxi-coat handing out imitation diamond rings to everyone. Adorable and very sweet. Some performers are larger than life; she was one of them.

Carol Channing was an odd duck. I love her in this movie.

Some people thought the movie as a whole was bad... but I tell you, this performance alone was worth the price of admission

It is an incredibly tall order to steal a movie from Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore, but Carol Channing did it.

What a pity Carol showed such restraint in this scene, she should have really gone for it (and, yes, I am joking)

1:21 Oh Jimmy - “you’re a pip!” (💓) ☺️

It lost her the movie role of Dolly (the filmmakers didn't think she photographed well) but got her an Oscar nomination.

She was such a lovely spirit, we are very lucky to have seen her in hello dolly, and i just adore this film.

You don’t get the likes of Carol Channing anymore - zany and lovely. She would have fitted so well in the 1920s

this is without a doubt one of my all-time favorite movies, this scene is one of the parts. I recently watched with some friends, and it was a bit hit.

I think “Millie” was the only time I’ve ever seen her (I’m an Aussie) but she was enchanting. I wished I could catch more of her, but I was a child then.

Yeesh some of the comments are vile! Shes a legend! Was her voice unique? Most definitely! But you always knew it was her and she was a true entertainer! I loved this movie when I was younger too! ❤️
