Men from Cali are also really hot. The thing is that you don't go to Cali for tourist attractions. You go to Cali for biodiversity, quick access to beautiful outdoor areas. More importantly you go to Cali for culture. You go to Cali for food. There's a lot of Afro Descendant and Indigenous culture.

Ever since you left the US you look less stressed,more happy,more toned and jacked up with a more open peaceful mind.What an awesome journey bro can't wait to see more for the future plans.

They understand what you are saying they are just being shady because your accent is flat. But they know what you mean. Colombians are known for having really pretty Spanish and they will roast you

I just left Cali last night.  I think your right but as a white Gringo I would say it's harder for me to blend in than you.  There are many black people in Cali, but not that many blonde guys like me.           I thought Cali had a wonderful food scene maybe even better than Medellin.  While I didn't have any trouble either when the people of the city tell you to watch out you have to take them seriously

I haven't been to Cali but I've visited Bogota. And man let me tell  you I had the absolute time of my life

Personally I find that Medellin is a very organized city with more to offer. However the people from Cali are super nice.. Cali is the salsa capital of Colombia  and there are a lot of beautiful women there.
In regards to people not understanding you,  I am going to give  you some constructive criticism.  It is the way that you said " tarjeta"  with a foreign accent may have thrown them off.  I understood you because I am from the States. However for a person who has never interacted with another culture besides Venezulans and Ecuadorans, it could be misunderstood by some local Colombians. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

With regard to women, historically, Cali has been considered the city with most beautiful women in Colombia, there are many songs, from old times to now, admiring and singing to the beauty of caleñas. But at the end, is a personal opinion. I think Colombia has beautiful women in all its regions, I wouldn't say which city or province have the prettiest girls. FYI I am from Cali.

Yeah man Cali is it! The first place I went internationally was Cali and stayed in the Chipichape area back in 2013! I loved it and the exchange rate was much different COP 1900 = USD $1. It's a very chill city but he's right you need to have a swivel in your neck! And people stop wearing shorts in these interior cities in Colombia, you will stick out like a tourist!!

This is Fact...I speak Spanish fairly well and
with the Spanish accent when I speak and sometimes I get the same reactions Auston does in Colombia when saying something in Spanish...drives me crazy!! also sometimes  I speak Spanish and they respond in English ..I don't know which one is the lesser of an insult.

I agree what Austin is saying is pretty accurate . The only exception is ive had better luck with Ubers

Cali is great to live for about 4-6mo in my opinion and the women are more wifey material than Medellin .

You will also like it if you enjoy slightly hotter weather . It’s perfect at night but you’ll sweat during the day . Getting an apt with a/c is strongly recommended

I would say that this problem is common.

I have been living outside of the USA  since 1975. I also had simular problems learning french. With time everything becomes easier.

Much luck Austin and don't forget to save between 20 to 30 Prozent of your earnings.

The reason being that the same mfs that you passed on the way up are going to be the same ones you Will see on the way down if you don't save your money. Be smart. Be safe.
