This case has done something I think none has done before: left Benoit Blanc SHOOK! Starring Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc and a stirring performance by Josh O’Connor, this Netflix sequel delivers sharp humor, clever twists, and classic whodunit chaos.

I really love how this film contrasts but also compliments Glass Onion.

Glass Onion is a perfect argument for righteous fury used to destroy the wicked while Wake Up Dead Man is a perfect argument for offering grace to those who have wronged us.

ive had tendonitis in both of my hands for a year and a half now from typing too much and one of the main downsides is that i havent been able to play the cello or bass guitar this whole time. the ending bit with simone playing the cello despite her injuries was one of the most inspirational things ive ever seen and it genuinely made me cry ugly tears lol

Finally a reactor who understood that Phantom of the Opera reference 😭 Only 30 seconds into this video and I can already tell this is gonna be a good time

As someone who has religious parents, Benny's rant about the church felt so good to hear. It perfectly encapsulates my feeling on the matter but in a far more eloquent way than I could ever hope to say.

I really enjoyed this movie a lot. It commented so well on so many problems in our government and in religion, but also it showcased what makes religion and church so comforting and safe for people.

My favorite detail on a rewatch was that Jud changed the name of the church from Our Lady of Perpetual FORTITUDE to Our Lady of Perpetual GRACE!!! It was such a small detail, but it means so much and just makes me love Jud even more

that scene with louisa was so touching i think Benoit also knew then Jud couldn't have done it

You said “His father is white, who’s his father?” You picked up on that quickly. Good detective work.

We will overlook that “who’s Martha question”

Faith can make good men out of monsters but it can also blind the self righteous to the shadows they cast. Martha has to be one of the most complex redeemed villains in the Franchise and Glenn Close played her perfectly. I also love how this film delves into "Emotional Investment Tolerance" a term to describe those who invest themselves into a person of power and are willing to let go of too many wrong doings and protect them. I also love how this film respects the idea of religion but doesn't hide it's shame.

I really like this version of Benoit Blanc. He still has the same whimsical personality from the previous movies. But they gave him more of a grizzled look here, and he's more of a bad-ass with some of his line deliveries.

Notice that Jud changed the name of the church to "Our Lady of Perpetual Grace "🥹
Also, Jud didn't lie. Cy's inheiritance is "in Christ"🤣

Martha's final confession is my favorite scene in the entire series. And Glenn's performance in it was utterly fantastic. I know it probably won't get her that Best Supporting Oscar that I've seen people saying it should, but she won it in my heart. Easily the best culprit and murder plot in the series so far, and I'm glad to see someone who loved that scene as much as I did!

My new favorite Knives Out! And Daniel Craig in the very 70's suit with the long hair makes me feel things.

@muhammadilhamafdillah3340 9 months ago

I knew Glen Close was the one but I wasn't sure how she would do it. I thought she would have the typical secret motive for the money/diamond. But to make her do all that out of faith and love really adds substance to her character.

I love how this crime, very much like the others, had so many layers to the murder but still felt solvable

@supremedarkoverladyoftheco8120 9 months ago

Glad to see you clock the bs surrounding Grace immediately.

@loulalala_user 9 months ago

i also didn't trust the "myth" surrounding grace and prentice immediately. "as a teen she slutted around bars-" you mean she was TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY GROWN MEN???? and her father didn't protect her??? and then had the gall to coerce her into living with him while she was vulnerable and then basically offed himself so she'd be alone with no means to provide for herself and her son?? meanwhile, not an unkind word about jefferson wicks' deadbeat father, not even a mention of him... grace deserved so much better!!! i'm glad at the very end martha finally realised how unfair all of it was to her

@Roseforthethorns 9 months ago

35:26 the framing of this shot is maybe one of my favorites. “We need a warrior!” Meanwhile the literal crucified Christ is over his shoulder. Absolute cinema.

My ranking of this series is
1 wake up dead man
2 knives out
2 glass onion
Wake up dead man is now my favorite mystery film of all time.

I'm not religious but I love Father Jud and Josh O'Connor plays him with such sincerity and earnestness. Genuinely one of my favorite characters in film this year and he made me cry at least a few times.

I wish more religious people were like him. Not a blanket statement on those with faith, I know it's complicated and this movie has such a wonderful exploration of faith and morality and the kinds of people who engage with it to heal and those who want to use it for other means.
