The pinion and spur gear in my MF-01X Tamiya chassis stripped because the motor moved and the mesh was too loose.  By pure luck, i found a metal spur gear to mesh with the metal pinion gear.  Loctite apparently keeps the motor in place once the mesh is set right.  If that doesn't work, I think I'll run it full speed into a wall and record it, lol!

Yep, ive had to deal with this many times on my arrma vehicles. The infraction i had, i set it up as u know for 100 mph speed runs, it was one run and done, but sometimes i kept doing multiple runs. Big mistake, and i learned that to the point that my esc overheated and the motor cut out, i was running 34 spur 27 pinion on a 1650kv motor. Stock gearing was 46 spur 18 pinion. Also when trying to line up my mod 1 34 spur with a 26-28 tooth pinion, i noticed it wasnt meshing, because of the gear pitch, i was using a 0,8mm pinion when it should  been a mod 1 pinion. Great video ryan.

Great video! I am just getting back into rc after having my Traxxus Pro Trax and Team Losi buggy rc boxed for 20 years in storage after my son's grew up. Alot has changed and I am slowly learning thanks to peoole like you posting these videos. Great job!

Hello from France my friends. Thank you for your very good work :-)

Traxxas does this from factory.  .08 mod spur and 32p pinion

Awesome stuff, love your content. Top gear  top tip, let your thread locking compound cure for 24 hours.

Thank you.   Once again another very informative video.

You are awesome man! I wish I would have found your videos like 2 years ago when I just got into RC's would have saved me alot of headaches lol

Very informative video  great info sir keep it up

My setup has a sensor and will stop power going past the ESC if there is too much heat into the system. This is cool but my motor kept overheating after maybe half an hour of hard drifting. I have bought a motor fan, but didn't test it yet. Hopefully it's good enough to keep it from overheating

Tanks PBS Minnesota Bemidji 67ÿoung newbie great imfo 😂❤😮

Not gonna lie didn't know 32pitch and 0.8 was slightly off

I’ve never striped a pinion yet,

I upgraded a crawler motor and ESC new motor used 3.175mm shaft I had no pinions for this, looking in manual it said 32p so kool I bought 32p 15T up to a 19T pinion, kool. It came im looking at it and like basically it’s half the teeth size of my spur, im like weird? I put it in anyways and i heard the most horrible grinding sound ive never heard in my 5 years of rc 😂 im like naw back to drawing board, i grabbed a speed RC car i have it has a mod 1 spur and pinion, im like wait this looks exactly like the one in the crawler i just bought. I put them beside each other little be hold it is a mod 1 spur, now I’ve order an adapter that lets me use 5mm pinions on 3.175 shaft, I have tons of 5mm pinions. Hopefully this works 💕

For torque, what is the best gear 48p or 32p...?

Commented before on this video if your in a "pinch" 0.8 mod and 32P will and do run fine. If you find a gear mesh that's imperial and metric within a few 00.0 of each other, then YES! You can put two pinion pitches together. Don't know why you delete comments dude.
