When this came out it was actually fairly disregarded. Many would switch it off before the robot part starts in the toilets. Because it didn't start hot like Shaun Of The Dead & Hot Fuzz, people assumed this was Edgar Wright taking a different direction and that this wasn't a comedy.
You were right to notice Gary's "ritual" - many people who plan to stop living, create personalised rituals that once they complete them they then do the final action. Gary thought if he re-created his "perfect day" he would either regain the feeling he had in his youth or he wouldn't and it would confirm his choices...either way, he had a "final plan" for when the Golden Mile was over.
There is a real dark edge to this movie.

So glad you watched this. It's one of my favorites. I love how the story Gary tells in the beginning is foreshadowing the entire movie

Andy as pretty much a drunken-master fighter always makes me smile!

My friend absolutely loves this film, to the degree he arranged a load of pub crawls for us at uni with custom made maps based on the one for the Golden Mile here. We even did one dressed as characters from the film, with him as Gary and me as Andy. We also had Christmas dinner at the real pub that served as the exterior filming location for the World’s End pub from the film back in 2024.

We actually just had a 10 year uni reunion pub crawl last weekend in the same style, not dressed up, which was pretty cool.

One of my fave movies. Thanks dude you're the best 👍😊

I love this movie. It is often considered the worst of the cornetto trilogy but for me its the best. Its a great window into the painful nostalgia for youth that many British men fall into. I grew up in a town of Gary kings. Men who are great fun on the surface but self destructive addicts on the inside.

The actor that plays Reverend Green was in the White bear park episode of Black mirror. I also recommend the series Spaced. You'll recognise a lot of the cornet trilogy actors from.

Peter was the bad guy in Deadpool 2, Paddy considine was one of the Andys in Hot fuzz

The best of the Cornetto Trilogy and easily Simon Peggs best ever character

I freakin love this movie so much. Great reaction, my friend!!

Bill Nighy was the voice of the network.
He's Shawn's stepdad in SotD, and the Chief Inspector in Hot Fuzz.
Paddy Considine was one of the Andys in Hot Fuzz, so you have seen him before.
He is also a panicky journalist in Bourne Supremacy, though Dead Man's Shoes would be the movie people would tell you to watch for him.
Eddie Marsan has been in tons of stuff, but you might know him as the evil orphanage Head in Deadpool 2.

The train station is my town train station. Always makes me smile when I see it!

One of my favourite films of all time. The pub names foreshadow the plot (as does the flashback at the start)

The First Post = Used to be a post office, and the first pub
The Old Familiar = "Starbuck"ed and is the same as the first. Sam appear, an old familiar
The Famous Cock = Gary is barred for being a...
The Cross Hands = The group crosses hands in an argument, and then their first fight with the blanks
The Good Companions = They go about like nothing has gone wrong
The Trusty Servant = Enter the Reverend and the conspirators. Oliver goes to the bathroom and gets turned (90s Oliver dropped out here)
The Two-Headed Dog = Twins, come on
The Mermaid = Gary, Andy and Pete are seduced
The Beehive = The swarm of blanks
The King's Head/The Smokehouse = Gary bashes his head on the pole while everyone's paranoid, and then goes it alone (Pete gets killed here, this is where he originally chucked a whitie in the 90s)
The Hole in the Wall = Steve crashes The Beast through the pub
The World's End = Not sure, tbh. Thoughts?

Andy and Steven still never drink in the last 3 pubs. The only one who does is Gary, who wants to reach the end. "There's only one Gary King". Really recommend rewatching the film. There are so many details that I can't do justice to in a comment.

Such a nice surprise! I'm so happy you hadn't seen this video yet. Cool movie and a fun reaction ❤

Edited at the end of the video OMG Paddy Considine (Steven in this) is an amazing actor who had a small role in Hot Fuzz (one of the two Andys) but most people know him from House of the Dragon.

I recognized that one bartender from Friday Night Dinner, would have never recognized him when I first saw this movie

YEay! Really hope you watch CUBAN FURY with Nick Frost in the lead, really funny and lots of other familiar faces in there too - no spoilers 🙂

Yeah you're right, this one only gets better with each watch. Very underrated, I guess in part because Hot Fuzz is a bit of an all-timer.

I think the reason people internationally rate this so low is because the idea of 'new towns' is quite uniquely British

You NEED to react to Spaced, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s series that preceded the Cornetto trilogy

God of Partying? You mean Steev Mike?
