I had to rush through this before my class so I didn’t get the whole experience, but Thank U is my favorite b-side right now so I loved your reaction. And addressing the sampling, I have listened to it enough I don’t hear it anymore, but I can force myself to hear it if I want to. It has totally blended away now and feels one with the song. Thank you so much for the reaction! I will rewatch when I have time.
first!! happy to see your reactions to ive <3 i hope you can react to their sister group, kiiikiii and they just dropped an ep with 6 songs! their title tracks are "i do me" and "btg"!
I watch so so many reactions to all the groups and artists I follow and your genuine enjoyment and appreciation of even the little background elements keeps me coming back every time I see you upload. You're wonderful!
Once in a while around Christmas some brave idol or group will cover Mariah Carey and it always feels a little ill-advised to me because, you know, Mariah! When I heard IVE singing THAT Whitney Houston melody I thought 'well, that's a bold choice...'. But I was wrong to be a doubter, turns out I really like You Wanna Cry and it doesn't leave me itching to listen to some 80s pop, it leaves me wanting to listen to more IVE.
I'm a little less forgiving of Attitude's interpolation but, without that, we wouldn't have Rei's dancing so it's all good! Speaking of Rei, I LOVE her section towards the end of Thank U, highlight of the album for me. Doesn't make me emotional at all, not one little bit, not ever!
About ATTITUDE: As shown in the video, the students enter the "no love" choice by settling for the printer at the beginning of the video. Once admitted to the school, there is no longer a choice; it's "yes" or "yes," as in the contract at the beginning of the video. Inside, they are all robots and insensitive, as we see when Rei falls to the ground and wipes the blood from her nose. From then on, in each part of the song, one by one they awaken from the liturgy and become human again, with feelings, such as empathy and love. Gaeul seems to be the last to awaken, and from there, they start a revolution, awakening the entire school to the new Attitude, that is, love. They burn the photographs they were supposed to be and throw out the window the printer that was the portal to the loveless society.
Nice reaction. Attitude has been my main ear-worm for the last couple of weeks. The “dat-da-da-dat” riff comes from “Tom’s Diner”, by Suzanne Vega. It’s been sampled before, but this is the coolest by far."……… TKO? Technical knock out.
I’ve been really looking forward to this! Thanks for reacting to IVE’s EMPATHY album—I loved your reaction. Could you also check out Kiiikiii? They just debuted yesterday as IVE’s little sister group!
