Knight's Path is in trouble again, this time over a servant in a floor-length wooldress. Of course it's not the only target: Marvel Rivals, Stellar Blade and countless other games come under attack. The charge, as always, is the male gaze.

So I went and read what the research actually says about male preferences: body shape, cosmetics, and character design. It turns out nobody has bothered to check whether the man everybody is angry about exists at all.

I'll present four studies, spanning 1985 to 2024, not one of them run by anybody sympathetic to the argument I'm making. Every one of them points the same direction.
