Sorry all for quieter then usual audio, I have NO clue why that happened (I do things the same way every time, but this time I guess something went funky in Premier Pro?)
Also sorry for the slight dip in frame rate for the second half of the video, my new camera decided it didn't want to save the footage and I was using a backup OBS recording. I hope this is still an enjoyable watch 😭 AH technology!

It amuses me to no end to find out how many doll lines were created to compete with Bratz dolls.

Mattel will burn money on ridiculous law suits but won’t pay their artists fair wages and would rather fire them for Ai instead 💀

When I was a child I tanned very easily and dark (Italian) with light brown hair and eyes and I thought Yasmin from Bratz was just like me so I can relate to you lol.

If they're sticky it's most likely plasticizer leakage. It happens when the vinyl isn't mixed well or the colors have a bad chemical reaction. You see it more with soft vinyl toys like My Little Pony. There isn't really a fix for it, but it is recommended these afflicted toys be stored away from others and with the accessories removed so they aren't damaged. I wrap mine in acid free tissue paper.

i desperately need you to talk about liv dolls, they were my favorites as a kid because they were "more for teens" with more posability, wigs, and inset (?) eyes! in hindsight theyre a little creepy but no one really remembers them 😭 great video as always!!

Im surprised that you didn’t mention the 17inch High School Musical dolls that came out for the 3rd film in 2008 and reused the teen trends body but with scaled up head sculpts of the normal Sharpay and Gabriella dolls.
As always a great video easy 🥰

This is very funny because I'm actually a biracial Black girl with tan skin and curly hair and I think a Deondra doll would've made me so happy as a kid 😭 I did have a lookalike American girl doll though and I have very fond memories of her

Being an emo kid in the 2000s I am SO certain that I was either gifted the Kianna (or Gabby) doll or one of my cousins had it, for some reason I don't remember the doll like at all, but I do distinctly remember playing with the little "closet" box thing the doll came in and being obsessed with just the tiny accessories they came with lol

I remember seeing wave 2 Kiana in Zellers in Montreal back in the day because her little face has haunted me for years that I never bought her.

i love pj sets over swimsuits unless the swimsuits are actual fabric and come with accessories because swimsuits are great for layering outfits

The Deandra doll is quite interesting, mostly because to me as a black person, idk if i would buy her even if she was seen as the racially ambiguous one. I’m a bit surprised they didn’t just go harder with the designing of her since Bratz had a black doll. Also i feel like Gabby and Courtney are the same girl 😂

I had first wave Kianna as a kid and I distinctly remember the doll having a STRONG plastic smell back then, even though it was brand new at the time!

Also New Mary lore, you took the LSATs twice?? No wonder your research is always so good

I recommend doing a video on an obscure MGA doll line from the 2000s known as 4Ever Best Friends. I have been researching them and it's frustrating to know that they are not documented well enough!

"Evil big corporation wants to be the only evil big corporation" You absolutely ATE with that quote

YES! the dolls in my area were always sold at the end caps and sometimes away from the main doll section. I have NEVER seen a wave two doll and i have been a teen trends fan since they released. I also remember them being 49.99? but i could be wrong

It's insane a company like MATTEL didn't think about SHELF SPACE! I like the idea of these dolls on paper, but imo? The name & look is too generic. Boring name, boring faces, no real identity you could market on merch like Bratz/My Scene. Quality clothes & articulation aren't enough to save that. Despite bragging about uniqueness, they all look exactly the same fashionwise other than the Rocker Chick (slightly) & the Harajuku Girl imo. No Black girl w/dark skin? in 2005? Crazy.

I never owned any of the dolls, but I can remember them being in stores and advertised on tv, and I LOVED visiting the website and looking into the girls’ rooms. From what I can remember, it wasn’t really a game, per-say, just a panoramic view of the illustrated rooms and as you scrolled around and hovered your cursor over certain items in the room, it would give a fun fact about the corresponding item and character. Such a cute idea, I wish I could find screenshots and reminisce 😔

re: thinking the "ethnically ambiguous doll" was most like you, when I was a kid i constantly got asian-coded dolls when I had a choice despite being white cause it was the only time i saw a pale-skinned doll with dark hair and dark eyes. i came to really resent blonde and auburn dolls sob
