The twist with Janet Leigh halfway through was such a brilliant idea.

The real shock to her death in the shower is how it comes on the heels of an entirely dead-end story thread. You're busy getting engrossed in the money and fraudy activities, and attempting to even think ahead on that path, but it's like "her story" comes into a different movie altogether, and collides with "his story" and the audience is stunned that they're basically starting over again with a whole new story.  That really was (and still is) jarring, and is very much part of why her death is shocking, it feels like "wait a minute, this isn't supposed to happen! What???"

The Psycho remake is like if Disney took a beloved classic film of theirs and remade it the exact same with the same dialogue but longer and dumber stuff- OH! WAIT! LION KING!

Vince Vaughn seemed like a logical choice at the time since he was known for playing neurotic characters in indie dramas that were critically praised. Similarly Anne Heche had a lot of indie cred back then before she had her mental breakdown and started doing TV movies.   When I went to see to the remake in theaters, nobody reacted to anything that was happening. Definitely one of the most weird cinematic experiences I've ever had.

Luckily I saw the original Psycho and Exorcist as a kid not knowing what the story was going in and got to experience them the way they were intended.

I wish I could have seen this movie back when it was first released. When nobody knew what was gonna happen. The audience must have lost their minds when Norman burst in dressed up like his mom. Stuff like that just didn't happen in films back then. The reaction of the audience would be great to witness.

"We all go a little mad sometimes."

Psycho II is an underrated film.

Man I love the first 2 psycho movies. Perkins does such a great job making you sympathize with him, first as a man trying to protect his “mother” and in the sequel as someone being tormented and unable to escape the past. I will never understand why anyone thought that Vaughn would be a fit for Bates, he managed to come across as pathetic yet too creepy to sympathize with. It also changed the dynamics of everyone’s interaction with him. Perkins seemed genuinely harmless so people letting their guard down around him made sense, Vaughn feels like he would fit in with the modern more violent online “incel” types.

Plus @ the ending credits of Psycho (1998) says In Memory Of Alfred Hitchcock.

That scene with Norman as "Mother" was the only time Anthony Perkins was in the dress.

Psycho 1, 2, and 3, are a trilogy masterpiece

Damn, that scene is so iconic that it even scared the Doc! 😂 17:30

32:46 AHHHHHH!!!! MATH!!!!!!!!

Anne Heche saying, "I almost had an accident last night due to sleepiness" didn't age well at all.

32:47 I lost my shit at the shot of her doing math with that music playing

Psycho (1960) is my favorite movie of all time!

Can't wait to see Dr.Wolfula review the other Psycho films

"Fortunately, fortune smiles in the form of a fortune."

Psycho is one of the BEST! Decades later, IT STILL HOLDS UP! I was afraid I wasn't going to like this movie because of the spoilers and how old it was. But I turned out liking it! In fact, I fell in love with this movie! I know every behind the scenes, trivia and I can quote the hell out of this movie from beginning to end. It's THAT memorable to me! I can see why the people back in 1960 really loved this film! If I was there, I think it would have blown my mind away even more!!! It's a shame newcomers these decades won't watch good classic movies like this because "it's in black & white." I guess I can't judge others prospectives. But like they always say, "never judge a book by its cover." In this case, "don't judge a film because of it's change of color." Hitchcock out did himself! It's cliche to say this, but Psycho is still his best film! As for the...uhh...remake. No. Just...no. I never saw it. EVER! But just by looking at small clips on Youtube and other reviewers reviewing it, I can already tell the film is lack luster and an insult to the original. I will always look at the Psycho Remake as an example of how NOT to do a remake! IF somehow they try to remake Psycho again (God forbid), and they truly followed the book more closely, I GUESS that would be interesting. But even if it turns out great, I'll always prefer the original! 😎

This is up there as one of the movies I'd travel back in time for to see in-person when it first released.
