My father flew spitfires in the RAF in Italy, Sicily and North Africa. The most beautiful machine ever made.

As an American I love our P-51D's But the Spitfire is a legend because of what it and the Hurricane did. I'm one American that knows those planes and their pilots saved all our collective asses in the summer of 1940. Thank You Great Britain.

THANK YOU FOR NOT PLAYING MUSIC!

So many of these videos are ruined by cheesy music. The sound of the old war birds, radial or V engine, is music we don't get to hear anymore. Thank you again for reminding us what we are missing.

@trainknut 5 years ago

It may not be as iconic as the Merlin, but the Rolls Royce Griffon is still one of the best sounding aircraft engines out there.

I know as an AMERICAN I am going to get alot of hate for this but I think the supermarine spitfire is the most beautiful plane my eyes ever looked upon

@johnfellows2867 7 years ago

The Griffon always sounds more brutal than the sweet Merlin.

@marekladicky4128 5 years ago

By far the far the most beautiful plane ever built

@petercastles5978 5 years ago

As someone once said," A thing of beauty is a joy forever"

I played this video to my toddler little cousing and i couldn't believe how mesmerized he was with the noise and the plane.

I think i just made another aviation fan.

@TheTruthKiwi 7 years ago

The sound it makes when flying past is just friggin awesome.

@malcolmlane-ley2044 7 years ago

Who needs a sound track when you have this?

@ryanj7517 5 years ago

The Mustang and Spitfire were just absolutely beautiful airframes. Beautiful and Beastly. Our allied Pilots were just so good and given their planes they were as formidable as it got in their day.

@Birdman953 3 years ago

The two most beautiful aircraft ever made. The Spitfire and the Super Constellation.

@MarsFKA 7 years ago

3:36 Possibly the most evocative sight in aviation: the shape of the Spitfire wing.

@Dragonblaster1 6 months ago

You can't beat the sound of a twin-supercharged Merlin Spitfire pulling out of a power drive. But the Griffon is a beast.

@Grampscamps 5 years ago

35 years as an aircraft mechanic and I still love these old warbirds!

@ivanbailon7161 5 years ago

This is the most beautiful airplane of the history.

@TheFunkhouser 4 years ago

Gosh.. been watching the F22, F35, Typhoon Euro fighter jets.. but the classic fighter like the Spitfire always brings you back to raw awesome!

@ronnyfurst5511 6 years ago

I love all these warbirds... the hurricane,spitfire,p51 mustang.... and many more. because the machines and the heroes behind the stick saved all our collective asses. if any allied veteran read this: thank you for your service.
