Your grandma trying to find husbands for both you and your cousin was funny, but also very familiar in Chinese families. Marriage often becomes a family project, even when the person involved is comfortable being single. My wife and I had almost the opposite story—she secretly took her documents and married me despite her family’s opposition, which I shared in one of my videos. Whether introduced by grandma or chosen against the family’s wishes, the most important thing is finding someone who truly respects the life you want. Your Yunnan family trip looked so warm and memorable!

This is your best video by far! You look genuinely happy with your family (they're really lovely). I don’t know how much luck your mom and grandma have with that candidate... but I definitely believe that eventually you’ll find the right person. I don’t know if there are many men who could resist that smile (seeing you smile it's a joy), but among them all, maybe one will fit perfectly into your life. I would have gone insane on a family trip like that. I’d lose patience so fast and would be so frustrated. My dad also never talked to me unless it was to lecture. Never a real conversation. He also said, in front of many others, that I was his “greatest disappointment” because I never had children. I have a bachelors degree, a masters degree, and a law degree. I’ve traveled the world and worked as a successful lawyer. I own two houses. And none of that mattered one bit to him, I was his “greatest disappointment” because I didn’t have children. I’m glad I like myself because clearly he didn’t like me. The worst part was pretending to be sad when he died and listening to other people tell me what a great friend and mentor he was to them. I wanted to scream, good for you, too bad he wasn’t that way at home. All this to say, be yourself, do what’s right for you, that is the only way happiness comes. Living for what someone else wants never works.

On boyfriends/husbands: it's only with your heart you can truly see. What's important is invisible to your eye. Follow your heart and don't let anyone hurry you as you will be living with him, not your parents. When my parents kept asking about girlfriends, I just told them I liked boys and they didn't ask again. When I later came home with a girlfriend, they were really, really nice to her.

I really relate to what you shared about your family. As introverts, being around many people at once can feel overwhelming, even when they’re family. I’ve often felt like an observer in groups, a little in my own world, just like you described.

I love how you observe your reactions and notice how different activities bring out different sides of you. We learn so much about who we are through our interactions with others, as long as we don’t judge ourselves. We can be introverted in some situations and more extroverted in others, and that’s perfectly okay. ❤
