Note to interviewer, let your guest finish and answer questions. Slow down.

I can tell that Evan is genuinely a fan of Isbell, but this interview felt like there was a schedule to be kept and Evan wanted to ask Jason all of his questions even if he didn't have time to hear the answers. I appreciate the interview all the same but it would have been better in my opinion if it felt and flowed more like a conversation.

Jason's a great songwriter and guitarist and this interview shows how smart he is. His answers are so well thought-out and expressed.

I've known Jason all the way back to the DBT days, but this was my introduction to Evan Smith - got a kick out of that guy and he and Jason seemed to play off each other well.

I found Jason Isbell with Southeasten album (a writer I have followed for years, Tommy Tomlinson, recommended him) and he's still my favorite. No one writes lyrics like he does--and a terrific musician. I just found this by accident--but liked Smith's approach to interviewing so I'll stick around.
