If you own—or are thinking about buying—a G01 BMW X3, this is a video you’ll want to save.

After 6 years and 75,000 km with my X3 M40i, I've put together a comprehensive list of problems, annoyances and failure points I've personally experienced, researched, or seen repeatedly discussed by other owners.

And this isn't just for the X3 M40i.

Many of the issues covered here can also apply to the X3 30i, X3M (F97), X4 and other G-series BMWs with the same components or features. Of course, not every issue applies to every vehicle, so use this video as a checklist rather than assuming your BMW will experience all of them.

We'll cover everything from headlights, active grilles, suspension and sunroofs to water leaks, driveline components, taillights, interior rattles, ambient lighting, electronics and more.

I also touch briefly on some of the well-known B58 issues, but rather than repeating an entire B58 failure-point video, I've kept the focus on the problems that are easy to overlook on the X3 and related BMWs.

If you're buying a used G01 X3/X4 or already own one, hopefully this list helps you catch some of these problems before they become expensive repairs.

And yes… there are a few problems in here that are really annoying. :(
