Wow! Thank you for all of the feedback and song suggestions for Raye! We are about to enter our "New Music November" where we feature all new artists in our pre-recorded reactions, but have already put Raye as a priority to return to in December. We can't wait to dive deeper into her catalogue of music :)

Raye "Where the is my husband" live at the Graham Norton show is amazing. The harmonies, the instrumentals, the arrangement everything is amazing about that performance.

I reckon Raye should write & perform the theme song for the next James Bond movie.

BRIT awards performance is a MUST plus Montreaux Jazz Fest performance of It's a Man's World & her Tiny Desk is incredible

she’s one of those artists where her live performances are LIGHT YEARS ahead of her studio recordings. I’m like how do you even top the original track every time???

Love that you found Raye. Excellent singer and songwriter. Was trapped in a label contract doing voice in different dance hits and writing songs for other folks, suffering that drove her to depression, alcohol, etc. Got out of it, wrote and performed her 21st Century Blues album and won six Brit Awards for it, breaking Adele's record, including songwriter of the year. Her live performances are stellar, full of mashups of hrr songs that she never does the same. She dors her own original music and she performs covers of songs like It's a Man's World and Feeling Good that her vocal prowess takes to new heights. Writes about female empowerment, enduring and getting through depression, being raped by a producer, how to handle difficult rmen, not liking your own body,  and having hope for the working class. Her performances of The Thrill Is Gone at the Mercury Prize, and mashups on the Grammys, the Brit Awards and SNL, and concerts at jazz festivals like at Glastonbury are fabulous.  Her latest song Where Is My Husband seen in a music video or at Glastonbury or on The Graham Norton Show is a retro tune with lots of quick-paced vocal acrobatics. She is also proud of her three-part tune Genesis that wades through obsession of self image in social media, depression, pain in the world to joyful hope for community and working people has a music video that is fascinating to see. Many times, in many tones, she sings, "Let there be light!" 😮

This performance of hers made me cry. Not just because it was exquisite but because she struggled for so long, with her label and addiction, and to get to perform at THIS venue. I was so happy for her!!

7:30  it’s a U.S. music industry problem. It’s been gatekeeping ever since the last British Invasion and shutting independent artists like her, Ren and many more out.

And she actually scored that entire arrangement

Her BRIT Awards Medley from 2024!! It is a medley of more of her own music in this exact full choir full orchestra classic style. She's an incredible genre-bender and that really shines in that performance but especially her album My 21st Century Blues. I'd also highly recommend any live performance of The Thrill is Gone, it is an EXCELLENT song.

She’s got the best flow in the world at the moment.

Her Tiny Desk Concert is a sight and sound to behold!!

Imagine standing in front of a full orchestra and choir - dozens of professional musicians - and still completely dominating the stage!! Raye's presence on stage is beyond belief

See Raye’s Royal Albert Hall concert has been nominated for a Grammy for best musical film. It’s a masterpiece!

I love the moment at the end when she grabs her mouth in disbelief because she KNEW she KILLED IT. Everything went right in this performance, and everybody could feel it.

Raye is phenomenal and INDEPENDENT 🎉

Raye swept the 2024 Brit Music Award winning in six categories including British Artist of the Year! Believe it or not Raye independently released her debut studio album, My 21st Century Blues (2023), to critical acclaim. Her former label Polydor Records signed her in 2014 at the age of 17 & had promised to cut her debut album for years but just kept stringing her along, releasing a few singles here and there & performing feature vocals for other artists. The label also had her writing hit music for other famous artists.

Raye has co-written songs for other musicians, such as Beyoncé, Charli XCX, John Legend, Little Mix and Halle. In 2022 she finally forced Polydor Records to release her from the contract, she began working on her album My 21st Century Blues independently.

I jokingly call the the British female Ren because Raye is known for her genre-blending music & is heavily influenced by jazz, while also incorporating R&B, pop, soul & rap, just as Ren love to blend and bend genres. I think you should do a live stream reacting to Raye's tiny desk performance, OMG it's soooo incredible.

1) You get to really dive into the soul and jazz that pours out of her with only a small band accommodating that big bold beautiful voice of hers.
2) You really get a feel for this artist, her personality & passion for music in such a small intermate setting.

I hope I can tune in and see that live reaction from the both of you. Cheers! ✌

I'm so happy. I love Raye. She's a fantastic singer and songwriter. It's wonderful that you listen to her. I highly recommend her other songs. Worth it, Escapism, The thrill is gone and Where is my husband. Thanks for the wonderful reaction.

It made me cry 😭 !!!! The power and energy of her voice!!!! What a gift and so grateful she can shine independent of a record label that held her back for seven years!!!!!

Hearing Americans and others call Raye a “new” artist always tickles me and blows my mind. She is a staple here.
