India won the match handsomely by 7 wickets and Kapil Dev was Man of the Match for his classy 2 wickets and a brutal cameo of 41 off 25 balls to see India home.

After India shocked the world with their instrumental World Cup win in 1983, and come the 1987 World Cup, they started as one of the favorites playing in home conditions. They lived up to the expectations on most occasions and were a team to beat in the tournament.

We have also published the India vs New Zealand 1987 World Cup Highlights where Chetan Sharma picked up the first ever hat-trick in a Cricket World Cup and Sunil Gavaskar scored his first and only ODI century playing in his penultimate one-day match.
