I still remember his knock of 80 runs against west Indies in 1976 chasing a target of mighty 406 runs, he was the backbone of the innings to help Gavaskar and Viswanadh to play carefree. Unfortunately he was the most underrated player.

Underrated master of Indian cricket. Most valuable at the world cup

Jimmy was a very gutsy cricketer and the Goto man against peak West Indian pace battery.. unfortunately the Indian cricket board sidelined him on many occasions leading him to call them Bunch of jokers

Great upload CA. This is one of the only few videos available of Jimmy. For me, he is an all time great and was my favorite cricketer in 80s. This was the innings where top 3 of India all scored centuries- SMG, KS and Jimmy. KS struck well too and runs came very fast- unlike Indian style in those days slow and steady.

For a while there, he was peerless against the best fast bowling attacks ever

Mohinder Amarnath came as a bowling all rounder .......but his gutsy character made him one of India's greatest batsman

Any video of Mohinder Amarnath scoring 100 and 90 runs in the two innings of 1977-78 Perth test vs Jeff Thomson and company?

The original WALL of India 👍🏽 THANKS CA

Those were different times in the 80s and 90s. IPL came in, generated a lot of money but destroyed the quintessential cricket for good.

An average of 52 in overseas tests and 48 in WENA countries (W for West Indies as S for South Africa was banned), 9 of his 11 test tons coming on foreign soil, 5 centuries against the peak pace attacks of pak and West Indies. Jimmy Amarnath is unarguably in the same league as Sachin, Laxman, Dravid and Gavaskar as India's best batsman of all-time.
