Seeing that the timeline of a futuristic sci fi game starts in 1859 is definitely unexpected. I like it

I think what I love most about this universe is that the stories of David and V are like drops of rain, tiny in the grand scheme of things.  Both David and V went through hell, leaving bodies upon bodies on their path to freedom or survival and in the end? Night city remains. The megacorps remain. To the average night city resident, it was just another Tuesday.

You know humanity is done for if Apple and Microsoft start building aircraft carriers.

15 minute lecture? Nah.
2 hour long timeline of cyberpunk? hellyeah.

I love how the entire timeline is basically “what if everyone had horrible international relations skills?”

Watching this in 2026. The US taking over Panama because of the “drug crisis” was almost 100% spot on lol

I love how the lore is like:

-Awful thing happens and tons of people are killed/affected
-"But if you thought THAT was bad..."

Slight correction is that Falco (driver for Maine and David's crews) survived the events of 76 and has a small text chat with V

I love that Saburo Arasaka and Johnny Silverhand almost have the same origin story but decided to engage on totally different paths.

Johnny was never captured by Arasaka. When he encounters Adam Smasher in the building, Smasher shoots him in half. Spider, the netrunner on the crew, slotted a shard that had the soulkiller program on it into Johnnys head before he took his dying breath. The visions we see of Johnny being carted out of the building and interrogated are either memories that were planted in Johnnys head, or they were completely fabricated by Johnny himself in the 50 years he was trapped in Mikoshi trying to make sense of how he could have possibly lost everything. Johnny is a narcissist, and there's tons of examples of him embelishing events throughout the game. Alt herself even tells you that you cant trust the things he tells you. Johnny wanted to believe he was more important than he really was. He was convinced arasaka had taken Alt to get to him when really they didn't give a shit about him. The vision of the tower raid doesn't include Morgan Blackhand because Johnny wants to remember himself as the leader of the raid, and that it was his idea when in reality it was fully funded and supplied for by Militech.

Kinda perfect that both Fallout 3 and Cyberpunk have Pittsburgh be renamed "The Pitt" and be irradiated wastelands. And honestly the footage works here for it.

What I find most appealing about 2077 is that it manages to both make you feel like you're a regular citizen in Night City, as weird as everyone else with your own story, yet it also makes you feel special and different as a protagonist. It's fun to switch between regular city-merc doing gigs and the reincarnated Johnny Silverhand.

Maine didn't actually kill Dorio. She was shot by one of the cops while she was trying to inject Maine with a dose of immunosuppressants.
I think it's purposefully presented in a confusing way in the anime, to make the audience think what Maine's thinking in that moment, confusion on if he'd killed his own lover while he was going psycho.

cyberpunk lore is that it gets worse, and then it gets worse, and then it gets worse, and then it gets worse, and then it gets worse (cool robotic implants)

Wow so The Edgerunners had just ended a year before V and his crew came on scene. Aww man we just just missed it by a year. Would have loved to run into anyone from Davids crew.

Gotta say, I love the constant jabs at Prince Andrew

I'm so happy to see Cyberpunk as a genre being revitalized, and this series specifically is a perfect way to make that happen

listening to the part about the us messing up the world economy and the panama canal part (about 13-15 minutes in) in 2025 is actually terrifying.

Cyberpunk strikes me as the future we're heading into but without the cool cybernetics, at least, not to the same degree.
