"There are two people you should never trust: a religious leader who tells you how to vote, and a politician who tells you how to pray."

"It is correct that they are wrong."

Thank you, Dan, that's perfect.

They want Christian nationalism but they don’t want to feed the hungry, have compassion for immigrants, or even love their neighbors.

They rail against Sharia law while pushing for the exact version of it based on their Christian Nationalist ideas.... Pathetic hypocrites.

"Christian values" is a dog whistle. Moderates will view it as more or less a synonym of "be good to your neighbor", "be kind", "give to charity". Meanwhile the rightwing is using it to justify banning gay people.

"The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren and to do good is my religion."
- Thomas Paine

"Christian ideas are SO disturbing."
You can imagine how these people would react if someone proposed declaring America a Muslim nation or an Atheist nation or even a Mormon nation.

We are not a christian country. We were founded based on humanist enlightenment principles.

I give a great deal of credit to how hard the founders worked to keep personal gods out of our politics, and hope it stays that way.

The framers of the Constitution: "Hey. let's create a new nation that doesn't repeat the mistakes that other nations in the Old World made." Evangelicals: "Hey, let's claim to support the Constitution while we work to destroy it and gain control over the entire government."

Christian nationalism is a label they embrace, but also say is a "scare tactic"

These guys send a chill through me. I grew up in a small town where there were only 2 churches: Baptist and Methodist. The Baptist was the larger. They constantly were informing the Methodists  theywere going to hell. I'm a Methodist but lucky because I was quite large but others were prone to bullying in school. The preacher of the Baptist church was arrested for vandalizing the Methodist church.  Christian Nationalism will look just like this.

Treaty of Tripoli Article 11 ratified by president Adams and congress " America is not a Christian nation"...
Case closed..

Christians seem to no longer know what Christian values are.

Adams was also a Unitarian by the time he was president, so the Christian nationalists probably wouldn’t even consider him Christian because of their insistence of their version of Christianity being the right one.

Maryland was established as a Safe Haven for Catholics, Pennsylvania was a Quaker “holy experiment”, Virginia was Anglican…. Today, people are clueless that the without secularism they would have repeated the 30 Years’ War.  So dumb.

It's not even ABOUT CHRISTIANITY! Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli EXPLICITLY states that we were NOT FOUNDED ON CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES. It's about freedom FROM religion and freedom to PRACTICE one's own PERSONAL religion without government interference. They want a Christian nation? Let's start by taxing churches.

Its funny because this is what they accused JFK of. JFK was accused of being an agent for the Catholic Church when he was running for office.

The one constant that is always reliable is Christian nationalists have no clue about Jesus or what he stood for. And they don't believe in laws, only in serving themselves.

Even if the Jefferson letter meant what they are implying it means, it wouldn't matter since we don't govern our country based on the personal correspondence between two former presidents, but instead by a document agreed upon and signed by dozens of representatives.
