On August 26, 2025, Huang Jiong Hong (黃炯宏) disappeared while hiking the Dongmao Mountain Six Peaks traverse in Guguan, Taiwan. His family had given up searching. But a Facebook friend refused to accept that he should be left alone in the mountains forever.
This is the story of that search, the lessons we can learn about mountain safety, and why caring for the missing truly matters.

Tell someone your specific hiking plan
Carry essential gear: headlamp, rain jacket, extra food/water
Use offline maps and know navigation
If injured, stay in place and wait for rescue

September 27: Miss Tsai contacted me for help
October 2: Petr's first search - no results
October 11: Found after 47 days
