Katniss' inner monologue is the most realistic depiction of a teenager I've read

The mental gymnastics and manipulation snow did throughout the book is honestly inspirational 😂 never seen someone so brainwashed

Guys... I don't want to assume anything but I think Amanda really likes Peeta...

People always skip over the part at the end where Katniss really was going to kill Peeta in the end cause she thought he was going to try and kill her. It's such a small part of the book, but such a pivotal part of how the games have already twisted Katniss' trust and understand of their relationship.

this felt like i was hearing gossip from my bestie, felt like 5 minutes, was so invested

"An arrogant little shit" is the best possible description of Snow during The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

In my opinion Dr Gauls the most pyschopatic person in the hunger games universe even snow thinks shes insane

no matter if you like it or not, you have to admit that peta's got that surviving rizz

Girl how am I supposed to take you seriously when you have Kirby’s flattened body plastered against your face 😭😭😭

Lucy doing that song for snow was the definition of "i can fix him"

The gagging at gale is so real, and the giggling at peeta is even REALER 😻

imagine not only falling in love with a girl that sings a song which in like 64 years will come to bite you, but your family invests all its assets into the district that will be your downfall and that everyone thought was blown up

When Lucy ate the rose I thought it was really touching but the way you just explained that I realize how stupid and silly that was lmfaoo

I only noticed after my recent reread that Peeta's gesture with the bread not only prevented Katniss and her family from dying of starvation. One day after that happened she saw Peeta at school and she saw him staring at her and because she was embarrassed ig she turned her head to the ground and found a dandelion, which reminded her of the meadow and her father. She then ran there and made a dandelion salad for her family and got the idea to hunt in the woods like she did with her father. So basically: Peeta saved her life (like on several levels).

it's always an absolute blast having amanda recap my fav books, can't wait for the sheer madness of catching fire!!

YESSSS. THE JOSH HUTCHERSON SHIRT. its too perfect.

“You have a little bit of that something and that something is jackassery and…I’m gonna help foster that”

😂😂😂😂

I read the prequel back when it first was released, I really liked it, but I didn’t feel like rereading it because of other books I’m currently reading, so thanks for the recap Amanda!

One of the things I thought about a lot while reading the prequel is Snow's age. He was 18 during the 10th Hunger Games, meaning he was EIGHTY TWO during the 74th  games in the first book. Like, I knew the man was old, but 82?

I, too, would kill (and die) for a man who bakes me bread
