The 1000-lb Sisters, Amy and Tammy Slaton, were once loved by their audience for their wholesome family bond. Over the years, this reputation has deteriorated dramatically following controversy after controversy. They started with dog abuse and scummy behaviour but eventually peaked after the sisters scammed hundreds with a GoFundMe funeral. Amy Slaton and her sister Tammy Slaton have received massive amounts of hate in the process, yet have still managed to maintain somewhat of a successful career after their show "1000-lb sisters" took off.

I made a gofundme once when I was homeless and my dog needed a $4000 surgery. It ended up raising around $1300, and even though every cent went toward to the surgery I still felt so damn dirty. I don't know how these people do it.
EDIT: well this has garnered way more attention than expected. Thanks to everyone who shared kind words, it made me smile reading them. Of course this wouldn't be YouTube without the comments calling me a liar, an idiot, etc. For the sake of visibility and for those wondering, my beagle is recovering nicely and we are both in a better place now. Cheers everyone!

I’m genuinely impressed how much chronic physical abuse the human body can take and still go on for years at a time

This video reminded me how much of a disservice it was for YouTube to remove the dislike button. I know it sounds silly but the dislike button actually held a lot of weight and helps us to hold people accountable. With the button hidden, family channels and vlogging channels can basically do whatever they want without their audiences knowing that they are problematic or scammers. The dislike button alerts people to the behavior explained in this video.

I never liked either of them, but I could tolerate Amy. I thought she was the better sister. I was even happy for her after she lost all that weight and had a kid. But im disgusted after seeing all the shitty things she did, especially neglecting the German shepherd.

I don't know what's more terrifying. The sheer existence of these two, the fact that the world allows them to continue to be this way, or the fact that some people out there are willing to give money to them JUST for existing.

Also, Jesus Christ, actually gasped at 14:43. How can that be called life?

From the TLC show, I thought Amy was the better, more mature one. I just lost all respect for her after hearing how she tried to pressure that 19-year-old virgin into stuff he clearly did not consent to, then doxxed him after he called her out for her predatory behavior. She's a POS who deserves any of the shaming she gets

Can we just talk about the poor guy who tried so hard to make artwork for this horrible person, yet when he asked for just payment, he got his artwork attributed to someone else and blocked?
I feel so bad for him as a musician who’s been through something similar to that before. Nowhere near as bad, but certainly spookily similar.

I own a German Shepherd. I run 2 miles everyday with him, makes sure he’s always mentally stimulated, plays mind games, exercises alongside him. He’s happy and healthy. Thats what they should’ve done. Poor doggy :(

I genuinely had no idea Amy did that with the 19 year old and then doxxed him... This is horrifying. I can no longer root for her to get better. Whatever happens, happens.

I just buried my sister in January. It cost us ten thousand dollars. She was 140 pounds. I sincerely doubt that they were trying to raise $1500 for funeral expenses. That would not have even covered the casket. To people like me, people who actually had to plan their sister's funerals, this is worse than a slap in the face.

If people were truly a “fan” of these two they wouldn’t applaud their behaviour, they would want them to be healthy. Faking a death isn’t so funny when it then happens for real shortly after

It’s so sad how common this is. I remember a “family member” used my little brothers death as a way to earn money. My parents were finally able to fully pay off the grave debt we had so my mom and dad could be buried together and this happened in 2015 and now finally paid it off in 2023. My mother literally cried knowing she was finally done paying it.
