Our house is wired with 3 rooms on a single breaker. The outlets are half hot making taking readings extra challenging with sensitivity adjustments, Goals 1)Find where the rooms are connected 2) Which outlet is the upstream one in the given room, 3) Splittimg rooms to own breakers since the panel has plenty if open spots. Tips and ideas needed. Thank you for your videos they have been a big help starting the detective work..
to sum it up, the best sensitivity on the wand is when the signal generator has a good ground connection for tone finding a wire ... after all, it's physics :)
my question is how good this tracer works with deeper/buried wiring, when trying to identify a break in a wire along a route or the the pathway used for a buried circuit/pipe
interesting video, I tried using the methods outlined in the video with ET450 the results were very similar may be a difference of four numerical points when testing sensitivity of the receiver to the transmitter red plug lead at the transmitter as illustrated
So what would you recommend for tracing ccts through masonry walls? There’s no power to the property so I don’t even know where all the light switches switch to especially the tow ways, so so so so many two ways light switch’s
Thanks for this, the Tracer works as a toner when the power is off but are suggesting that the Toner works better than the tracer for dead circuits? An easier way to get around the tamper resistant outlets is to plug in a couple old fashioned three prong adapters.
I have this tracer kit and I was a bit confused. I would connect to the hot and ground. While trying to find a break in a cable. Thought I had what I was looking for but it was the ground I was picking up in an other room. Any pointers?
On the old ones you better ground it first as the voltage flows through it. You can shock yourself getting between the ground lead of the tracer and ground. Not good on 277v. How does the Klein compare with the Ideal? My company bought the Ideal one and its range sucks compared to my old Greenlee one.
