The (shockingly) much requested Part 2 of A Basic Guide to Issen is here. This video covers everything you'll need to know in order to make short work of the demons that stand in your way. After watching this you'll have a solid grasp of what Issen (Critical Strike) is and how the new mechanics work in Onimusha 2.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny (PS2) is the ambitious sequel to Onimusha: Warlords (PS2) and Genma Onimusha (XBOX). Now that the highly anticipated Onimusha 2 Remaster is nearly upon us, it's a good time to brush up on those Issen skills.

It's actually incredible how the window for Issen opens up substantially while moving. All these years of playing, and I would stand still waiting for the counter. Awesome guide!

These vids are awesome! I wish I saw them earlier! Idk if you’ve seen but I released my Oni 2 retrospective. I actually visited capcom and watched director Eshiro play Oni 2. He was Issen-ing every enemy! It was amazing but I saw him strafing before most issens and it made me realize in that moment how to issen more reliably. It was such an interesting meta moment. Like watching and learning from the master. 😂

Some attacks you have to be out of the way to crit because the crit timing only activates when the weapon is basically already in your hitbox, especially on hard mode. With the rerelease analogue controls it's also easier to do it. Sometimes you cannot have your back to the enemy attacking, other times you can, it's kinda weird.
Also I never knew you could crit the archers, crazy details in this game you can still find 20 years later.

You don't know how much I love you! This is the video I've been searching for all my life to train on how to get better at Onimusha 2. I thank you for your hard work and amazing video!

My only complaint for this video that could use improving should you make an Onimusha 3 guide, is that the controller overlay is far too small and all of the action happens too far to the other side of the screen. If I try to focus on the controller overlay to see the button timings, I miss the animation cue. If I focus on the animation cue I miss when you are supposed to hit the button. I had to use the "<" ">" keys on my keyboard to frame by frame to see for each enemy. I think either putting the overlay in the bottom center or just making the overlay bigger would solve this problem.
