Resident Evil's road to action led to the creation of Devil May Cry, an unexpected success that created the hack and slash genre as we know it. But that first game released 25 years ago. Is it still as good as we remember? Let's find out.
In this channel, I re-upload in English some videos from my main channel, where I speak my native language, Spanish.

I forgot to talk about something important, so I'll say it here.
Hideki Kamiya's main intent when creating this game and Dante was to discover what truly means to be "cool" or "stylish", Dante being the answer to that question.
Kamiya determined that being "cool" has nothing to do with swearing, smoking, drinking or sex, and decided that Dante would never do or talk about these things. This may not seem very important, but watch some japanese's behaviour and you'll see they have a social or cultural problem. I don't know which of those adjectives is more appropiate.
Instead, what makes Dante "cool" is him taking hits and getting back up with a smile, if anything, only slightly bothered by being hit at all. Angering his enemies with basic gestures and words, making obvious that he's superior to them without being rude or disrespectful. And, of course, how despite the darkness that comes with being half-devil and that his goal is vengeance, the character's true core is his love for his family, in this story, for his mother.
Through Dante, this affects the gameplay, who wants you to behave like him, to roleplay to be him. Use a variety of techniques, dodge, taunt, and even if you're hit, get up and don't lose your cool, keep being stylish.
That quest for style created the "vibe" of both Dante and Devil May Cry, a vibe that can barely be found in other media and a big reason of why it's so special.
