Raul Flores deadlifted 511kg to set a new world record, but his training looked completely different from the approach used by Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson.

Shane breaks down the training programme shared by Raul and his coach, David Medina. This includes light raw deadlifts on Monday, heavy suited pulls on Friday, the nosebleeds that disrupted his preparation and his final progression through 1,000lb for three, 470kg for three, 482.5kg for two and 504kg for one.

He also explains the three factors people rarely consider when discussing deadlift recovery, and why training frequency must be based on the individual rather than a universal rule.
