I spent time exploring **Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso**, to experience the city beyond the headlines and discover how people are living, doing business and navigating life in one of West Africa’s most talked-about countries.
My journey began at the **Thomas Sankara Mausoleum**, where I learned more about the legacy of Burkina Faso’s revolutionary leader and his lasting influence on the country.
From there, I headed to the **“I Love Ouagadougou” roundabout**, where I spoke with young people about their views on **Captain Ibrahim Traoré**, Burkina Faso’s current leader. I wanted to hear directly from the people themselves and understand why Traoré has become such a popular and influential figure among many young Africans.
I also visited the **newly constructed Burkina Faso Mall**, one of the modern developments transforming Ouagadougou. During the visit, I had the opportunity to be introduced to one of the **largest real estate projects currently being undertaken in Burkina Faso**, giving me a different perspective on the country’s growing business and construction sector.
Next, I explored **Kwame Nkrumah Street**, regarded by many as one of the most beautiful and vibrant streets in Ouagadougou. I also sat down with **Chez Djamy, a local businesswoman**, for a conversation about doing business in Burkina Faso, the opportunities available to entrepreneurs, and what it is like running a business in the country.
No trip to Ouagadougou would be complete without visiting the **Grand Market**. I explored the busy market, purchased some local items and enjoyed some of the **street food in Burkina Faso**, getting a closer look at everyday life and commerce in the capital.
This journey gave me a completely different perspective of *Burkina Faso and Ouagadougou* — from history and politics to business, modern development, markets, food and the everyday lives of young people.
