'Lester' is how you pronounce Leicester. 🙂

Withnail & I is the kind of movie that grows on you each time you watch it. It often goes from being a bit meh to being a film that buries itself in your very core and will never let go of your heart. Give it another go!

If you don't know Patrick Troughton from Doctor Who - you might remember him as the Priest in 'The Omen'

If you look at the photos of the Safety Deposit Box robbery, you can see that they ONLY opened some of the boxes.  They had inside info, they knew exactly which ones they wanted

Timothy Dalton was the only Welsh 007 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

One thing Elizabeth Taylor never managed to buy was the car numberplate ET 1 which has always belonged to the Mayoral car of the Mayor of Rotherham.

The King's Cross fire - someone lit a cigarette with a match and discarded it on a wooden escalator, where it set alight to the grease lubrication. Because it was under ground, any radios used for emergency communication couldn't be used

I think that conferring the title of Princess Royal on Princess Anne was a recognition of how hard she works as a member of the family 'firm'. She has always been one of the hardest working members of the family. In 2023 she undertook 454 public engagements, which of course is more than one a day.

Prince Edward was much better suited to opening a theme park than being a Commando! He went on to work in theatre and television production, before becoming a full time working Royal.

My best friends dad was on the Knightsbridge job.

Spy Catcher is a classic case of the Streisand Effect, if the British government hadn't had made all that fuss it wouldn't have sold many copies (if i remember it's not that well written) but all the controversy and free publicity meant it sold thousands of times more copies and became a global best seller

so many disasters, at least my parents had something to smile about since I was born on January 6th 87 =D, but, lots of great movies came out in 1987 - Predator, Lost Boys, Empire of The Sun, Robo Cop, The Princess Bride, The Witches of Eastwick etc etc

A modernised version of the sunflower painting was used in the episode of Doctor who: Vincente and the doctor in Matt Smith's era

i was born in 1977 and lived through all this, we are known as the late Gen X, known as Xennials

Many people still rented televisions and VCR's back then. Although relatively still expensive to buy,  many often went wrong on a regular basis. My parents rented TV's and up to and including our first colour TV in 1970 (for the World cup), we always were calling out the repair man to fix something or other.

We were renting a TV and video in 1991/92. It did drag on for quite a while.

Withnail and I - it’s a tragic comedy. We like real. Our comedy doesn’t need winners.

Leeds United lost to Coventry in the FA Cup Semi Final and to Charlton in Play Off Final.   Grrrrrrrr.

The title of Princess Royal is bestowed for "special services" -- unstinting and very visible support of the monarch and the country. When William becomes king, he can elevate his daughter to Princess Royal if warranted and he so chooses.

Also, a skip is a dumpster, not a mere trashcan. 🙂

Two Star Trek references in the Top 10 singles chart in the same week:
Star Trekkin' of course and T'pau (pronounced "tuh-pow") was named after a character who first appeared in the original series of Star Trek, in the episode Amok Time.
